Los Angeles- 10 mile Closed Street Skate 4/15 This Sunday-Tomorrow

Sorry for the late notice but I just heard about this.
Today Sunday the 15th is Ciclavia Day in Los Angeles. I never heard of it either but here is the website. Basically its a day where the streets are given back to the people! 10 miles to be exact. This is big celebration in Latin America so I was told by a Cuban I will be skating with.

The map is low res but you can just make out the streets.
Here is the deal - From 10 am to 3 pm the 10miles of streets shown on the map will be closed to traffic so you and everyone else and have at it. Wither you want to play football, ride a bike, cartwheels, skate etc...
I have not seen this but it happens once a year and along the route will be corporate sponsored freebies. Not sure what but I was told for sure Coca Cola is one but that is all I was told.
Basically the route ends/starts at Melrose & N. Normandy at the 101 fwy. And goes to Hollenbeck Park Hub.(4th st & 5 fwy) With some branch off streets. Not all in the best neighborhoods but it is daytime and these communities know how to party in the streets.
I am meeting another skater at the Chevron Station at Melrose & N.Normandy Ave at 11am and skating the whole 20 mile down and back, stopping somewhere for lunch. Might shorten the 20 miles if beer is encountered. I expect it to be a relaxed fun cruise due to all the nonsense I expect to see and skate around. If you want to meet up see you there at 11am. This is a must do next year. Way more interesting than going in circles.
Here are some pictures to see what it is like. Only 100 skaters seen but 200,000+ bikes. It was 10 miles of wide road covered with people on bikes.

I typed to fast to read I had the old date in the heading. Sorry.

I expect that the Friday Night Skaters will be skating if you want to be part of a large group. I will be with a bunch of 10 yr olds on bikes.
Wear old wheels since there are many slow downs due to intermittent cross traffic and other distractions along the route.
