Default What is your WEIGHT, and HEIGHT??

Hopefully this will be a motivational thread..Those that are overweight, try to take it off, and the peeps like me, that are underweight, try put it on..

I will start..

I am 6'3" at 139 lbs. My weight has only varied about 15 lbs in the last 50 years. My top weight at one time was 150, and my lowest was 135.. Right now, I am at the 139 lbs, and pushing almost zero fat!!

6', ~185

My weight hadn't changed in approximately forever, but it looks like I've finally dropped another few pounds.

Default BMI

this remionds me of the BMI (Body Mass Index) thread we had last year.

While it was accepted by all that the BMI standard was flawed at best, it was interesting becuase it pitted reality against an ideal. that is, it wasn't just a telling of what you are, but it had the audacity to suggest what you should be.

Pray tell, i am fairly sure that at 5'7" and my current 158 pounds, i am in the overweight category.

I don't feel overweight.

It hurts to say it.

OVERWEIGHT! there, i said it!

Of course, i know i'm not, and of course others have their tales to tell as well, but be that as it may, perhaps we should also say what our goal or ideal weight is, and how we plan to get there (assuming you have a plan).
My goal is to be at or below 150 by summer, without losing any muscle mass. It's all about muscle mass to weight ratio, and with a bit more cardio-vascular workouts (as opposed to plyometric and weights) in the spring, and longer miles (as opposed to interval training), i can easily drop these extra eight pounds. Similar thing happened last summer, but i think i only got to 151 pounds. I think i'll have to be less of a food pig to cut out those extra couple of pounds,
EDIT: Checked my BMI, and i am on the high end of Normal weight, bordering over weight. SCORE: 24.7,
25 starts the overweight category.
There's also a note in there about particularly musculaar builds of athletes skewing their numbers, which may be the case in many of us.

One rule of thumb for how much you 'should' weigh I've seen is this:

Man: 106 + 6 lbs for every inch over 5 feet tall.
Woman: 100 + 5 lbs for every inch over 5 feet tall.

That is for a medium build. If you are a small build, you subtract 10% and if a large build, add 10%. I think this rule of thumb is based on BMI so may be flawed to some extent but I fit into the rule.

6' male would be 172 lbs. Subtract 10% because I'd probably be classified as small frame and you get 160 lbs. I usually weigh right around there but it goes up and down a few pounds regardless of how much I eat or exercise.

Okay, this chart isn't written in stone, but it should be close.
Even if I take the minimum weight, for my height I am still 37lbs UNDERWEIGHT!!!

5'9" 190 I don't look fat. I do have a little bit of a gut but my legs are hard as rocks. I think Wellbutrin is making it harder for me to lose. Guess I should research.

The reason you don't feel overweight is because you are NOT OVERWEIGHT for your height. In fact, according to the chart I just posted, you fit right into the IDEAL range for your height. You could add another 15 lbs, and still not be overweight.

On your weight you get a thumbs up!!
