Well, I just scored ........ as in big enough to win Tue world series, Superbowl, world cup and all Olympic events at the same time.
I saw a Craigslist ad in Denver for "old junk quad skate equipment"...... price $100 boo. I figured it might be enough stuff to put a pair of skates together for outdoors. I went to see what there was, and OH MY GAWD!!! There were 4 24x24x24 boxes and 2 Rubbermaid totes full of plates, wheels, parts and 4 or 5 pairs of old 595 boots. One pair in next to new condition.... all are very useable! I have found 3 sets of Lasers, a set of Whips, Black Diamond, Eliminator 3, some old Snyder's, Dominators, multiple sets of laser parts, 2 Black Diamond plates with no trucks, and some I can't identify yet. Wheels range from Labeda MK V, Vanguard Fanjet, Jumbo Jets, Krypto outdoor, some old Sims...... and some Atoms plus more I haven't seen. There are piles of bearings, Fafnir, Timken, Bones, and tons of cheaper stuff, both 7 and 8mm. Many dance plugs, toe stops, new laces, ..... I literally do not have room to put it all out to see it at once! I did also see a pair of size 13 195 Grand prix with White Magnum plates....... my new skates!!! When I finally get some time off work, I will photo and share with y'all!!! I will be selling some stuff...... keep an eye out!!!! This shot NEVER happens to me. I never get great deals,..... usually overpay by lots...... |

Traditionally, people post here about their shiny new skates. These are not. Custom Pinnacle Elites casted at A2A 2013 paired with Bont 7050 frames. The boots and frames have about 16,000 miles on them. The wheels are MPC Back Magic XX Firm 110mm's closing in on 105mm. They have over 2000 miles on them and are due for replacement. If you look carefully, you can see what appears to be the shock band showing through.
On the back is a Powerslide brake. I don't use it often but I skate through commute traffic. I keep in on in case I need it. In 2015, I was having tongue slide problems. After New York 100K, where this was a major issue, I took the boots to a local leather repair shop and had them add a lace loop to the tongue. The loops should have been smaller but as long as I run first laces over before I lace through, it works fine. Next time I get boots made, I will request this, or perhaps some of the mechanism from the start. ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by ese002; February 19th, 2018 at 06:07 AM.
