yea from what he explained to me the whole boot is custom... stiching heel flaps and all... it is his own design at which he drew up himself... from how i understood it riedell cannot make this boot unless he gives permision to make it... yet if there is enough demand for it it could turn into a normal designed boot in the future... possibly........ the plate was one of a kind at its time as doc noticed a littlewith it not having the normal bottom cushion retainer... and the wheels were a custom colored wheel at their time too matched with a swatch of the yellow leather....

off main topic
He talked to so many people saturday but whoever it was that talked to him about getting his custom plates that he talked about into the working please pm me... me and him talked about it a bunch today and we want to get it moving

just a little info, this boot was made by Riedell of course, but when the owner of Riedell was asked about this design and asked if in fact the owner had any rights to the design, the owner of Riedell didn't even remember this consumer, tells you how much of the rights he owns to this design. The owner of this boot is not new to skating, but from what I've been filled in on, has been a character in the skating world and made a not so great name for himself.

my 2 cents.

I would venture to say dead on. Which really isn't a bad thing IMO. I really like the look of the Freestyle. These Riedells are pretty cool, though I'm not a fan of the double lace cover. Make it all one piece.....an a LOOOOOOT less than $700....and I'd be in.

That is the same thing the guy that owns this boot told me the other night. Just one more reason I will NEVER own a vanilla product.

As far as I know, you can order any custom you want from riedell, but that doesn't give you the rights to it. And I just got one.

um no. my dad designed this boot while he was in iraq in 2004 and my mom had the boot made for him from riedell and we got it in time to take to 2005 WSA jam skating nationals in boardman ohio. and while we were there alot of people came up to my dad asking him what it was and lerkre the owner of vanilla saw the boot and liked it and he took the design with out my dads permission and made vanilla 2 years later.

If your dad still had proof that he designed the boot, and what occurred he COULD still sue Vanilla for intellectual property. Of course he'd have to have more than just "I had the concept in my mind, and my wife asked Reidell about making it."

It looks like vanilla gets a free ride. Every experience I have had with their products has been bad. I'd skate a sp204 before I'd touch another one of their product!!!!!!!!!!!!
