Cool What works for me?

1. Pro line art plate .750 on 10 Grand Prix {Buffalo Hide???] black boots.

2. Pro Line art plate .750 on 10 Grand Prix Kangeroo Boot. [ red and soft as wallet leather.]

Both pairs are still like new.bought in 1991 direct from Curt Labeda after complaining that I had purchased 5 sets of skates from Rinks and they did not seem to work the way they should? My feet did not go where I wanted to go? (50 years old then and just learning) So I bought two exact sets, always have a back up pair. Something we learned in motorcycle racing.

3. Power tracs. had 2 sets. Unmatched for speedy session skatin, but huge
""""""Ah Sh*ts"""",when the front king pins snap off. More than once I have seen my feet fly over my head? Was that my feet? That did it for me,thought i was going to be on the news at 6.

Everthing else I think I have tryed, even brand new best Riedell Dance boots and Atlas plate. Used them one time, sent back to rink pro shop, I DO NOT WANT TO SKATE LIKE SOME LITTLE PRINCESS, or look like Katrina Witt. I want SPEED,and I want it for sustained sessions. Think Skateworld in Phoenix and Skateland in Mesa,Most rinks in So Cal.

Now I have not yet bought,or tryed any roll lines, any models,But! the ones that I skate with,I can turn inside or go outside anytime of the ones on them around here and in Texas. On my pro lines. Warp 9 and above if needed for some real fear?

Wheels. 62 X 40MM Quads,thats all I have ever used.

1. at present since Jan 08, Orange Hard Cannibals. So good I have sold everthing else. Have 6 sets at present. Not going to get caught.

2. Pink Lips, bought 10 sets at one time from John here at Intense, Skated on them 6 months each and sold to good skaters with no money at the rinks for $50.

3. Green Shamons, skate same as pink lips, only ugly on my red 395's.

4. Answer fusions 97D, not real fast, but skate good everwhere. kinda ugly after 6 months.

On another note i just recieved my new Black and White 951 Riedells, some more orange cannibals, and a Made in Italy PAILOI short plate,so I can skate like the little darlings?? on the east coast. At least I have to try it. Can't whine if I have not.

I thought about getting green boots?(like Smitty) But then I did not want to look like a Lizard that talks and sells car insurance on TV.. Where's sk8 Smitty?? Has Ridell fired him yet? I can't find a picture of him skating.

Why you ask is this the very best? I'll tell you...I wore these skates back in 89 and that's when I hooked up with Christina G. only the hottest girl that went to the Palace Roller Skating rink in Philly. Our song was "First True Love" by Cynthia.
The Formula II boots are what I used to skate on back in the day!! What I wouldn't do to have them back!! Love em - Had those boots, laser plates and red interceptor wheels.

BOOTS:

1. Pink Red Line 395s
2. Black Red Line 395s
3. Kangaroo 395s (without the red cushion)
4. Kangaroo 595s
6. "Skunk" 395s

WHEELS:

1. Pink Lips
2. Fusions
3. Blue Cannibals
4. Red Shamans
5. Hotlines

PLATES:

1. Roll Line Energy - don't have it yet but it's #1 on the Wish List
2. Roll Line Navigator
3. Pro-Line
4. Ultimate Dominator
5. Snyder Advantage

I have owned everything except the Energy and it's on the wish list. Why the Energy when I have a Navigator, because I can get a 145. A 140 is a little too short and a 150 is a tad too long. A 145 would be pretty darn near perfect! Giottos are sweet and cheaper, but I like my plugs. Still own everything except the Shamans and the Advantage.

Here I go, showing my ignorance of everything old-school and posting a Top 5 Favorite Wheels of Short, Stocky-ish, Grippy-Wheel-Loving Derby Ref Circa Mid-2008 list...

1) Answer Alphas -- Grip for floors where nothing else sticks, without sacrificing roll. Very similar to my G-Rods, except for the part where they've turned from white to snot green; I shun white wheels just as much as white laces. :P They seem to be lasting a little longer than the G-Rods as well.

2) Black Radar wheels -- Mine are Tuners because I wanted to test the waters before spending the cash on Devil Rays. Good all-around "when in doubt" wheel that doesn't hold me back on grippy floors, and they're holding up reasonably well thus far.

3) Red Radar Devil Rays -- discontinued, very similar to number 2, and softer than my red 70mm Speed Rays despite being marked "firm." Oh how I loved these wheels...when they still had their grooves. My only qualm with these wheels is the fact that they get really slippery when the grooves wear off and are not so cheap to replace.

4) Pink Sure-Grip Fugitives -- See pros of number 2. Not so great in the longevity department, though. I augmented my "good" ones with orange Fugitive pushers, which for some strange reason have lasted much longer.

5) Green Sure-Grip Fugitives -- Harder than all of the above (96a according to SGI), without being slippery like the cheapies. My favorite for grippy floors. Just got green Speed Rays because my pink and blue Interceptors have proven to have the same grip as Radars in those colors. Hoping that's the case here.

I'm kinda shocked by how many people included anything by Hugger on their list. We where talking about this just tonight, Huggers where so soft they where like skating on silly putty.

And Zingers??? Really??

Boots:
1. Oberhamer 351/353 (best for comfort)
2. Riedell Side Flap 395 (best for jamskating)
3. Riedell 695/595 (best for speed)
4. Labeda 375 Baby Blue (just all around nice, and good looking too!)
5. Chester Man (rivals the O's for comfort)
The Bont Black Widow/Quad Racer/Derby boot might knock one of those off the list once I spend some time on them. And I would love to put Redline 395s on the list, but I can't take any of my other 5 off to make room.

Plates:
1. Labeda Proline (no matter what else I skate on, I always go back to my Prolines)
2. Roll Lines (the only thing I thought might overtake the Prolines... not yet though)
3. Snyder Royal
4. Italian WIP
5. Ultimates (lot of nice plates in that line, and just one spot left, so they get grouped together!)

Wheels:
1. Labeda Interceptors - love all colors, but have to go with Pink at the top.
2. Glow SN8KS
3. White Kryptonics Rockets
4. Pink Wicked Lips (best on more floors, vs the other colors that require a good floor)
5. Original grey Ultimate Weapons
The Answer Fusions are close, but I'm not convinced they have the roll that some of the older speed wheels have yet.... gotta do some more comparing. They might be first as far as performing well on the biggest range of floors though.
