Of course I'm a little biased as this is my home rink, competition and teaching.
We have some of the best skaters in the Nation that take lessons here, including myself.

And... 1.5 hours isnt too bad.... I travel either 2 hours to get to Rollarama, or close to 3 hours to get to Taughton Ma......Its where the best rinks in New England are!

Hopefully see you on a Saturday!
Yes, Rollarama is a great place! We all loved it!

While we were there we talked to Brett (skate guard) and another young woman (sorry don't remember her name) but she was also a teacher and won quite a few medals recently. She was asking about my daughter's skates and mentioned she used 297s.

You are certainly dedicated traveling far distances to enjoy skating!! Taughton is almost 4 hours from us!

My wife grew up in Chelmsford and after we were married we lived in Framingham.... did the drive from there to Ossining, NY many times when we were dating! But it's a little much to drive for skating since we are still beginners!

Not sure, but we may be at Rollarama on Saturday afternoon... can't miss us, we are all tall! LOL If you spot us, please introduce yourself!!

Thank you so much for the warm welcome!

Cute Blonde.... her name is Kayla. We are very good friends, and sometimes we even skate together......

I wont be coming back until Sept 7 as that is when classes restart.

But you cant miss me either, I'm the only male instructor there.....I'm usually just coming off of a lesson or practice with my skating partner....

If I do see you I will come over and introduce.

Hi, I'm Shana, or Kennii (my username) is fine too. I'm 22 and I live in London. I started skating on quads a couple of years ago on and off, but I've recently gotten more into skating. At the moment I have a pair of Rookie Classic II skates which have been alright to get me into skating but I'm looking to upgrade and learn more about skates. I usually only skate outdoors on smooth open surfaces like an empty basketball court. At the moment I'm working on learning transitions but I'm hoping to improve quickly and start learning harder skills on the future

Hi. My (real) name is Julien. I have been inline skating for 20 years. I started when I was a student with some friends, we would practice occasionnaly just for fun. A few years later I joined the staff of the Friday Night Skate in Toulouse (France). I met a lot of great people and started skating more, several times a week. Beside the Friday night skate we would also play hockey, do some freestyle slalom and speed skating. I participated in my first races (3 times in the 24 hours of Le Mans) and became more interested in long distances. Then I moved to Brisbane (Australia) and could not really find people to skate with over there. I continued skating by myself once a week for the 8 years I was there. I came back in France in 2016 in the Paris area and quickly found a new group to skate with on a weekly basis. Unfortunately I live too far out to go regularly to the Paris Friday night skate. I have participated in a few marathons and 3 100+ km races/rides (namely Rhine on Skates, Trans'Oise and Rollathlon). I am relocating to Richmond, VA next month and hope to be able to continue skating and meet people to skate with. I have already heard about the Virginia Capital Trail which looks very nice! I hope to complete a full return trip on it some day.

I also intend to get new skates when I arrive in the US so any advice on (online) shops is appreciated.

Marsu/Julien , if you are interested in inlines, this source has a good selection of different skate lines. Online or brick and mortar shops in Toronto, Vancouver B.C. and Seattle. https://shop-task.com/

My name is Bethany (28) I started skating three years ago after getting my own pair of quads. I skate rinks and trails around Tampa and occasionally join the local cib at SPoT. In the rink I can usually be found trying all manner of tricks in the center and occasionally doing the coffin, in the future I'm hoping to try some artistic skating. Anyone with tips on how to get started learning dance/freestyle feel free to drop me a message, or if you just want to have a skate day in Tampa.

Greetings all, I'm Manasseh AKA "Mansah B" or Slim M. 24 year old male out Northern Virginia. Joined the forum back in June but never got around to posting due to a lot of obligations and me somewhat forgetting I had an account
But nevertheless; I've always known how to skate since I was a child, but didn't get serious with it until 2016 or so. So I'm only 3 years in the game. (still consider myself a rookie personally)

Currently I'm sporting a Riedell 172 Boot with Powerdyne Reactor Neo plates and Fomacs freestyles with 1 vanathane wheel on the front right of each boot. Right now I can only afford to skate once maybe twice a week if I'm lucky. Since I'm in college, money is kind of tight and I don't have much time, but once I graduate and become a little stable, I plan on going much more often.

Will be trying to post here and contribute a little more often than I did before. This forum always had an answer to my curiosity when I was trying to understand the styles and equipment of skating before I was a member. (Wheels, bushings, preferred truck alignment, boot preference etc.etc.)

Anyway, thanks for having me guys!

Default Greetings from Munich Germany

Hi! Hope you all enjoyed a happy Thanksgiving!
My daughter got me back into In-line skating. I am in the process of upgrading my 95 Rollerblades soft boots. Going for Seba Trix
Have not received them yet. Excited!
No special interest, so they might be a bit overkill
The forum helped me a lot during my decision making process! Thanks a lot!
The German forum has lost too many followers already. Well, who cares about trends anyway!
Special Thanks to Jessica (and all contributing!!)!
Take care, Justin

Hi everyone, my name is Jennifer and I'm a 46 year old wife and mom of 3 from upstate NY, nearish to Binghamton. I learned to skate in the local rinks between 1980-1982 when I was 7-9 years old, and I enjoyed indoor skating for many years after that. No idea what kind of skates I had back then, but my mother bought them at the rink for me and they treated me well. They were white high-top boots and had red wheels and a blue pompom with a bell on it attached to the toes!

I quit skating in my late teens and this past summer I decided to pick it back up. I bought myself a pair of Riedell 120 boots on powerdyne thrust plates and got some Radar Energy outdoor wheels on there, and set out to learn outdoor skating. Spent this past summer getting myself confident to that end, and also got myself a helmet and pads so I could try out some skatepark stuff (I would like to be able to navigate ramps sooner or later).

As it got colder out a couple of months ago, I slowly began to move it indoors to my local rink (same one I learned at so long ago!). I got myself some Rollerbones Team Logo 98A wheels a week or so ago after asking advice elsewhere for wheels with a bit less stick than my 87As that I also have, and am glad I got these. They have a bit of slide to them which is a new learning experience all over again, which is great!

My favorite thing about skating is GOING FAST! I have spent the past month plus just reading threads here, mostly in the quad forum and mostly threads from 2007-2008. I have a pair of vintage skates that I need some help with, so originally landed here when researching them.

Funny story - I saw people mention Pete from sk8fanatics.com in those old 2008 threads, and then I got a recommendation to email him just a couple of weeks ago when I asked elsewhere about my vintage skates. I thought "ok this guy has been around all this time and is still the go-to guy for vintage skates? What a trip!" haha.

I will be posting in Doc's forum at some point to that end but for now - hi!

oh, I also am starting to practice with the local derby team. Never been in a sport and thought it looked fun. My derby skates are factory stock Bont Quadstars. See you all around the forums! If anyone here is also on reddit's /r/rollerskating/ or /r/rollerderby/ subs then you recognize my name. Yes, same person. so, hi to you all as well!

Welcome to SLF! I am also from upstate NY, in Chenango County. I learned to skate a rink in Sidney (that burned down several years ago) in the 70s. I also had a pair of artistic type skates, with the pom poms and bell on them. Too funny.

If you enjoy going fast, a friend of ours up there is involved in speed skating (as are my husband and I), also helps coach derby and teaches lessons in Oneonta. She lives in Harpursville I believe. I know she goes to Skate Estate sometimes. I can put you in touch with her if you want. Shoot me a private message. When my husband and I go upstate periodically, in nicer weather we go skate outside at Otsiningo Park.

Again, welcome to the forum!
