Default Looking for a new wheel...

I currently have a set of fanjets but the tires are too soft and slow. So I'll be replacing them eventually. In the meantime I'd like to order something that's comparable to the Atom Fusion. Unfortunately these have been discontinued. But I loved the way they rolled, gripped and did hockey stops. Any suggestions? I was looking at green zombies, Atom booms, RBT's in 97's or 101's or White Shamans. I've had orange cannibals and the we're soft and slow imo. Any advice would be awesome. Thanks

Default Aussie scott tyres

Coreyskates.com

Accept no substitute.

I've been on shaman, zombies, vanilla alu hubbed wheels, faster, RBT'S,

Either buy tyres made by Scott corey. Or get bont royal assassins.

He also makes full width bont style wheels that take micro bearings. Full weight of the wheel ends up being about 118g vs 145g of most full size speed wheels.

You can spec a hardness, color, width and even hub style.

While the price is more, the urethane durability is astonishing.

I can easily bald RBT'S and SG Zombie wheels in a few sessions of hard skating, the royal assassins take almost a year to develop the same wear. Literally like 20 times as much skating.

Default Scotts number 1

Hyper Shamans, white next if you like wide speed wheels. Also if you have a budget.

Default Thanks

First off... thanks for the advice. But I already know better when it comes to the best. Scott's of course. I'm without doubt going to be ordering some Aussie Scotts. Only problem is that it's going to be about a month before I can afford to do so. I'll be in Dallas next week so I'll be able to go to low price skates and grab something to hold me over. I'm scared to spend a bunch on the shamans because doc says that they're basically dyed cannabals. Which is fine for some. But I just couldn't dig'em. He and others were surprised by the quality of the green zombies. So I'm thinking those rbt's or atom booms. As for Scott.... I'm DEFINITELY going to go nuts here soon. I'm just dying to replicate some redlines and hotlines. I've got some blue hubs and can get the reds online. How long after ordering should it take to receive them? I'm guessing a couple of months yeah? Now if anyone wants to sell me a set out right then that would rock. I know who's trust worthy on here and would pay in advance. Ok yes I have the SED thing. Nostalgia doesn't help either. I'm 45 and want everything that I couldn't get when I was in my teens.

Btw... thanks a lot for such a detailed response. I found it very helpful. Maybe I should just grab some atom booms cuz they are inexpensive and could do the trick till I get my hands on some Scott's. I have a bad feeling about all this. I'll probably have 3-5 sets once it's all said and done. I used to have some Primo Dino's and could love me a set of aluminum hubbed 98's.

I wouldn't even bother buying something middle ground, unless you plan to use them outdoor after your good indoor wheels are bought.

Atom has good urethane, but poor quality hubs.

In a nutshell, buying a set of mediocrity will be exactly that, and a waste of time and money. Be patient. I've pulled the trigger on probably 700$ worth of wheels, easily. Even the good ones, it's not worth it. Save that money, hone your skills skating, dont worry about speed/roll. The best urethane comes to those who wait

Default i think wheels are very important

labeda make good off the shelf wheels also .but i heard they have stopped production on speed wheels. the locals get a good run out of the labeda classics.i still swear by the stillettos but am a little embaressed that they are named after ladys shoes not the knife .

The White Shamans don't have pigment. I would buy Scotts and will someday. Only problem I have is it costs more to buy Naturals(delete pigment). Color is nice, but it is not necessary for the wheels to work. It actually is a contaminate to the function of the wheels. I have skated wheels that were the same hardness, with pigment and without, traction differs.
I'm 57 and had a time with SEDS when I came back 8 years ago. When you are older, you can afford better gear, but deciding on what to get can be a huge issue. After much searching I finally settled on DA45s. Most versatile plates out there.

I'm waiting.... after finding that Facebook page last night, I figure I'll probably get lucky and score some Scott's here in the states. If they're not the exact set up that I desire, like redline hotline, I'll just order those later. Till then I'll fly over stuff on my skateboard. Roller skating is simply a nostalgic obsession I'm having fun with. So I'm gonna do it right and save up for the good stuff. Thanks everyone for the awesome advice.

Default Problem solved!!

I'm gonna get Scott's tires for my blue hubs and a set of S/E's for the new skates that I'm building. He said that I should be receiving them by Xmas. I'm not gonna hold my breath because I'm aware of the hard work that goes into making them. So once they arrive I'll be skating. Besides I have to work day and night during October November December. I do Xmas lights on an epic scale. My reward will be Solaris, Snyder Advantage and some jumbo Super Enforcers. I'm STOKED!!!!
