Hi all,
Stumbled across this forum as I'm trying to get my dad's web site up in the search rankings. Let me explain. My dad owns Beadle Rollerskates. Has done for well over half a century. In it's heyday Beadle had their own speed, hockey, figure and rental skate designs which were built in the UK from scratch. Plates were either cast aluminium or cut from sheet metal. Trucks were cast in ali or injection moulded. Axle's were cut to size and threaded on a lathe. Every pair was hand finished. Beadle even had it's own range of 'Atlantic' wheels that had different grades for each type of skater! Beadle supplied virtually every roller rink in the UK, Starlight Express in London's West End and even for the original 70's Rollerball film! The business is still going but no longer manufactures. I asked to join the forum as I've seen posts of Beadle skates either for sale, or people asking for help/advice or looking for more information on Beadle. So if you have any stories, questions, whatever, reach out and I'll see what I can do to help. My dad (82) loves a good skate story so get in touch. Cheers, Roy |

Only reason I even knew this is because Brian (BFunkPhenomenon) and his partner seen in many of their videos were once asked what they were rolling on. He responded "Beadle" and though his partner, Linda, also started with Beadles, she's since gone to Powerdyne Arius plates. So I looked up Beadle on the Google because I'd never heard of them. Being in USA instead of Euro, that can be easily understood. I couldn't find the original question answered by them when I did a search last night. |

I was just a young lad and it took me a while to save up for a pair, but I the day finally came and I ordered my brand new Beadles from Duvals sports shop in Harringey. I remember going to pick them up and they were not ready, but the guy in the shop rang Beadles, and arranged for me to pick them up, directly from Beadles a few days later. Anyway, I went to pick them up, and unless my memory is playing tricks on me, I picked them up from a shop in Middleton road in bowes park. I remember a tiny shop with boxes of skate parts everywhere, and the man in there (obviously your dad ) was riveting them together and assembling them. A great memory...... I still have that very same pair of skates. Phillip |

![]() ![]() ![]() Fresh out of the loft after many, many years! With the original Beadle wheels on the back and, what I remember to be called, Portuguese Blues on the front. If memory serves me correctly, Portuguese Blues were much sought after in the early 70s. Phillip |

Sick! That's the first time I've seen anything that looks like a toestop
on those plates. How is it secured, just glued on? |

I know this is an old thread, but I was perusing eBay yesterday and came across a lot of "NOS- New Old Stock" wooden Beadle wheels for sale. It's for a set of 8, and it says they have "more than 10 sets available". I had emailed Doc because I was wondering if they were splitwoods, since they were marked as Beadle & C.L. Made in England, however they do not appear to be.
Since this thread is about Beadle skates though, I wanted to mention it in case anyone is seeking thos wheels or whatever. ![]() ![]() https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-OLD-STO...YAAOSwihxdITmX (not my listing, no clue about it at all, just thought it would be relevant to this thread. They have additional photos of the box etc at the ebay link) |

Wow! Wood wheels. I was skating somewhere last year and heard a guy
skating around on them. Finally, I had to ask, "Are you skating on wood wheels?!" "Yup.", was the answer. They make a very distinct sound on a wood floor. |
