Default Skate Depot, Cerritos CA Closed

http://www.cerritosskatedepot.com/

Never went there myself but I'm told it was a nice big rink with great skaters and something of a meat market. Couple of my buddies kept trying to get me to go but I just couldn't reconcile the 1.5 hour drive each way on a work night. Kind of sad because from what I gathered, the problem was not poor management or lack of business, just the new landlords not wanting to renew the lease.

IIRC the same thing happened to Rollerskate Land in Chula Vista (the first one). Must suck to have a viable business but be forced out due to the landlords. I've seen this happen several times.

Default Sorry to hear

I am not if I ever skated there. Just sad that another roller rink has died.

Smile I have skated there. It was a big/huge skating surface.

The floor was very big, with big wide corners.

If you wanted to skate on a big floor, that is where you wanted to go.

P.S.
I have not skated at its sister rink in Chula Vista? Has anybody skated there?

I believe Cerritos' sister rink is in Chino (i.e. same owner, different location). The floor there seems large too (24000 sqft).

There is no rink in Chula Vista anymore although I'd been there a few times before it relocated. IIRC they were forced out to make way for a hospital. The owner then moved (Natl City I think) and was there for several years before someone got killed at the rink - some kind of shooting or stabbing. Sad thing was that one of his employees opened the rink after hours for an unauthorized private party and that was when the incident took place. It wasn't too long after that the rink closed.
