Depends on the song and who I'm skating with. Left to my own devices I usually do. If I'm shuffle skating I don't unless I'm leading the line.

Default Shake them All The Time

OK

I probably shake them more after skating. The music when good gets me going. I have danced around Market Basket years ago dancing right after skating on Sunday. Just could not help myself from feeling alive.

Tonight I was waiting for a nice guy at a Beer/Wine Store to get me a free beer glass with that special top that makes beer taste so good. The music was good so as I waited I danced. Weird for the cameras I suspect. It was actually the same dance I used when playing in a band as a young boy.

And then once home after awhile I turned on the radio and heard this song

OK Not this good one
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gs069dndIYk

Shoot forgot it already yet it made me shake my hips and pick up my arms to the sky and dance, just like I would do at skating.

Yours in Skating, MA/NY Skating Dave

P.S. Got to be honest that when the young well endowed gals shake their hips they add excitement to the skating mix. And they can do Cart Wheels. Ah Gran Kids.

Oh hell yes!

Here's the greatest skate song of all time. A funk classic. It's NOT possible to listen to this song without moving your hips, feet, everything. Get ready to move...

This made me laugh. I did not grow up learning to dance and never had opportunity to do so. When I came back to skating in 2007 at age 46, I was skating one night when one of my outspoken new skate guy friends said to me, "Amy, you skate like a Chritian girl with a pole up her butt. MOVE YOUR HIPS!" I laughed and never forgot that but took it to heart. In the last 8 years since that first year, I have taken up Zumba and Latin Heat at the gym and I will tell you, my hips now move All Over the skate floor. ALL NIGHT LONG... And my arms, and my shoulders. And anything that will shake to the music. And like Derrick, I don't care!

I learned the same lesson when I was about 20. I moved back to indiana from the Denver area (with a short stop over in Nebraska). The anti-disco phase was at full height. I came into a local rink and they were playing Disco. Some young gal said she loved Disco. I said, "Really, why?" She said, "Because , it's fun."

I have no idea who that young girl was, but I took it to heart. Who cares what everyone else is doing. Disco is fun.

I've been told that my hip shaking while shuffling is mesmerizing. I'm OK with that.

^ This. The kids/teens tease me, but they also get out of my way whenever they play a disco song

Disco is great as long as it has a rock and roll song drowning it out.

We have a lady at our rink that does that, haven't seen her lately, but when she is there, we all follow her a little bit!

I'd shake more if I was a better skater, but I do dance a little when a good song comes on. In my head I'm an awesome dance skater!

Smile This post is quite funny...LOL!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Htw4...&nohtml5=False

Sorry for the boring post...LOL! But when I started skating there was no "Top 40" music or "funk" music played at the skating rink. Late 60's/Early 70's.

The closest thing you got was like "Green Onions" on the organ, because all the music they played was organ music. I still love organ music, but I think there are only two rinks in the US that still have live organ music.

Glendale Ca, is one of them. Played live by Dominique.

I don't think I move my hips. Kind of modest..lol!, but I consider my skating like "rexing". And I was told if you want to ride a horse, it's like making "love"/moving the hips in an-out...lol! So moving the hips to music or at disco tech or skating would require you to move your hips. The more you move them the more provocative.

I kind of mix my music, swaying the whole body and arms to the music, throwing in artistic dance turns and if I can get away with some artistic freestyle jumps, because that is my background. I do throw in a few creative jumps/leaps that I created myself and one girl told me she had never seen somebody throw that type of jump.

You just jump straight up and scissor your feet back and forth and then land on one foot forward and continue to skate to the music.

Larry O...have fun moving those hips..yeah!

Guys can spot this 500 yards away while comatose. I am pretty sure it is what makes the world go round.

I second Big Foot.

Now I skate off and on (well at least on the same floor) with a young lady maybe less than 20. Gosh Dang does she have the figure, now I would have to go through a time machine cause I am old enough to be her grand dad. Yet dang she moves her body, we sing some songs together when skating, she also side surfs, can play piano on the floor sideways with me, and does so so much more. Even does Cart Wheels. And when she does the dance session she is always so so darn enthusiastic. Dance being YouTube the Wobble for one. Ref: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qd6UI6wEIsU
or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fE_64SdD27w

Yours in Skating, MA/NY Skating.
P.S. Years ago used to skate with a teen gal that could Cat Twists and forward flips on her skates, plus Cart Wheels. She must be a beauty by now.

P.S.-2 And in maybe 7-8 yrs when in my 70s we will see what my Grand daughter will be. She has all the elements of being a real favorite. Too bad I haven't got her skating.
