Default One would think Old N Slow wasn't a white boy

Hey Old N Slow,

Links to some of your favorites were not present, yet most of your links were fun. Of the links you posted I liked Creep the best (back later to be sure). Yep it has potential for both slow, double time, and some interesting skating.

Hey you are a white quad racing skater (at least formerly, of decades ago) so where are some period songs of your youthful youza yesteryear.

Well, Some of my old favorite songs were already listed.
Rappers Delight (First and favorite)
Atomic Dog (Nothin but the DOG in me)
Apache
Any Grand Master Flash and the Furious Five
Off the wall

They asked for shuffle songs. I love to go faaast to 80's and 90's rock (hair bands)

Go fast songs are;
Tom Sawyer
Workin for the weekend
Kickstart my heart
Crazy Train
Poison my eyes
Shook me all night long
Back in Black
Rock and Roll all Night and Party every day
I can't drive 55
Eruption-You really got me
Any thing off Appetite for Destruction
Wanted dead or alive
Turbo Lover
many, many more.......

Todays rap is to fast with no story.
I liked the old Hip-Hop. I can remember listening to Sugar Hill Gang and Grand Master Flash at the rink when I was in the 6th grade. My friends at school that did'nt skate were first listening to the same songs when we were freshman.

My generation got all screwed up from the Purple Rain movie. We bacame color blind. It was'nt a bad thing, but it was difficult dealing with the values and morals of the boomers and their parents. I think Prince deserves some credit for helping to break down racial barriers. Blah, Blah, Blah.....

I love to jam and I love to Rock....especially when I'm skating.

Shuffle - "Party Train" and (i hate to say it) "Ice, Ice Baby!"

Fast - "T-N-T" or "thunderstruck" by AC/DC

Thunderstruck has that awesome intro. Great for relays.

Default Nice Hip Hop Stuff

Hi Old N Slow,

Nice Songs

Except for the last song they all seem to have the same tempo. I know a few skaters that like this tempo consistency and say it makes for a more fun skate than a skate with mixed and changing tempos.

OK I have skated to each and they do have a nice forward skating beat. The only problem I have had is with the pause in some of these songs like the no parking song. Those pauses always stop me cold when skating, since I don't know that the beat will resume.

"Freakshow" by the Barkays was a ripoff of "No parking on the Dancefloor" by Midnight Star... Didn't they have lawyers back then??? If you don't understand this, listen to the 2 songs...

The BarKays were infamous for borrowing other band's styles...

Ragged Jim,

Are you sure the Bar-Kays ripped off Midnight Star?

"No Parking (On The Dance Floor)" by Midnight Star debuted 2/25/84 and climbed to #43 on the R&B charts.

"Freakshow On The Dance Floor" by the Bar-Kays debuted 3/31/84 and made it all the way to #2 on the R&B charts.

Hey, a month isn't much time to run into the studio and pull together a rip-off. And then to out-perform the original, which was still on the charts for almost two months of the four+ months "Freakshow" charted...I don't know.

What do you think?

I always suspected they did... Maybe someone wrote both songs and then sold them to each group... I may have to research this a bit!

While you're researching, Ragged Jim, check out this bad, bad Midnight Star jam...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQXlSX4THr8

It's so full of "Electricity" that I was energized and had to dance along. How about you and others?
