Cool no pics

sorry but i don't have pics. but dvw is right, it's pretty simple though not really any differant from adjusting a pivot pin,lol your just adjusting the truck buy raising the hole thing up the king pin until it's centered on the truck. thus fixing the geometry. i wish we would have had adjustable pivot pins back in the day it would have been much easier.

Doc,
If you have one would you please post a pic of a Chicago Super Jet truck? Want to see how different my trucks are from the Jet trucks.

Not a great picture, but it may help. Set for sale on Ebay with some 265s.

saw that and may make a play on it just for the info; then again, maybe not.

Also, its been rumored that a very small initial quantity of XL brand trucks were cast and used before going with the Jet trucks. Have no idea if my trucks might be these or not, and no way to tell, unless someone has a complete setup from the very earliest XL days.

Maybe you could send xlracer a pm or an email and see if he knows. I know he doesn`t chime in much these days but maybe a little nudge might wake him up

If you are able to get Tracy's attention, let him know I still have 2 sets of NOS Rollas for him. He did have extra trucks at one point as I got some from him years ago.

At the risk of a thread derail, no, those Dominators belong(ed) to a forum member. They were Kimmie's when I did that work, and Bethany had them at one time. No idea where they are now.

And Anna outgrew Shelby's Oberhamers a while ago. I still have them, though. She's gone over to the dark side, however. She's got rec inlines that she loves, and I'm going to borrow some 3x's that Evan outgrew, just to see how she does on them.

I'm glad someone dragged you to the computer. I figured you'd settle this XL truck thing.

Ok, Doc, you can have your forum back now.

The XK4 trucks just do not make the grad......Did you try the Ultimate ll trucks.......
I know the pivot hole is the same diameter as the invader pivot cup but not sure if its the same depth........And these white pivot cups my not be original to the XL......

Default let's frame this for xlracer.......

1. these trucks were on my XL setup. Doc says they don't look like the Super Jet trucks that were used at some point. Are the ones in the picture some other manufacturer or possibly XL originals (Quadbob mentioned that a very small quantity was possibly made) before the XL guy outsourced them? (The pivot ball fits nicely into a plastic pivot cup in a bore OD of .437 on my XL's)

2. Are there other trucks besides Super Jet's that will work, or will work with minimal mods?

3. What trucks will work with the SL plates? Below is the pic that came with my pair of SL's. Rubber cup with a bore size of about .550". Doc thinks these may be the short height SG SA trucks. (Will have to get you a side pic Doc....)

Whatever light you can shed on the whole XL and SL thing would be highly appreciated!

As far as I can recall. The original XL used Chicago Super Jet Trucks, the SL used the sure-grip s/a trucks that were on the cyclone and xk-4's. The pivot cups on those two are a little different. If you need pivot cups for the XL and SST plates, the pivot cup that sure-grip puts in the Nova should work. Those SST's need UI or UII trucks. I have gone on a search and destroy tonight and so far I have only uncovered one set of UII trucks I do have a contact.....the guy that made them....
I will contact him tomorrow to see how many sets he has lying around. Last time we talked he still had a few sets. Sorry guys I dont have too much free time these days. Between the rink, the track, Derby girls and work hell I only get about 5 hours of sleep a week. Doc slapped me on the side of my head today. Doc and Danny always know how to find me.
FYI I have taken my UII trucks off that plate and switched them out with the trucks on my XL just to see if they would switch out. I think I had to keep the king pins with the plate but everything else made the switch.
What I still want to know is can you put the d/a truck on an SST or XL. Doc?

Well, the UII`s fit like a champ in my XL`s (they wouldn`t in my other ones though, makes no sense) so thats what I`m going with on this app

I happen to know someone that has several sets of XL plates that were purchased direct from the guy that made them in his little shop out in Colorado back in the early 70's. I will track him down next week and drag him into this discussion. He is the original Xl specialist. I will see if I can get his daughter to take a set apart and take some pics for us. Get this, her daughters are skating Jr Derby and both are on Vintage Oberhamers and XL's.

XK4 trucks work only on the SL conversion.....where the pivot hole was inlarged to except the the larger pivot cup....But originals took the jet truck.....I have both versions......and another DA45 conversion......SST's take the Ult ll truck.....as they sit I have a several sets of those.....small pivot hole.....and Ult ll trucks i can get.....Question is there others trucks out there for them.....can they be converted to accept DA45 and XK4 trucks......
The XL has a larger pivot hole that diameter is the same size as XK4 pivot cups.....just not sure if it has enough depth....
