Default WSSA World Ranking

WSSA World Ranking

After several months of work, gatherings files and thinking with the riders from wssa skaters group (world slalom skaters association).
The Slalom World Ranking Project is finally out.

The project is to establish a relationship between all slalom events in the world and of which we receive the ranking sheets, to show the best and most active skaters of the moment.

Each event is affected with a coefficient established depending on the importance of the event, number of entries, level of skaters, place of the event, organisation experience, past history of the event,...

All the skaters who appeared on the rankings we receive get points. The total on 12 months is calculated, then we keep the 4 best results of the year (4 being the most representative number observing different events and average travels of the skaters involved in the competitions)

On the rankings you'll find :
Name
Country
Nb = number of competitions attempted
Total = total points on every competition
Best 4 = Total of 4 best results of the year

This ranking will be updated every month and will evolve continuously. From May on, the new competitons will be added and the competitions until APril 2006 will be removed. Then Each skater can see his ranking going up and down depending on the latest results.
The latest event which has been taken into account is the French cup in Toulouse.

Battle Men and Women available after PSWC event in May.

Each single event will be taken into account until we receive the ranking, even the one you want to organise with your friends in your garden

IFSA did refuse to take part to this mix of result. WSSA still did it. It has no respect for the achievement of other organisations.
This mix is damaging IFSA achievments. Moreover it is illegal.

It is also nonsens.

Wow.

I can not be more turned off by the IFSA right now.

Vinz, you are not representing your organization very professionally with that post. I suggest you have an open mind about freestyle slalom. There is a World Slalom Skaters Association. You will notice it start to be the new authority on Freestyle Slalom as a sport. I don't understand your resistance.

Why keep the focus on the achievements of an association? Why not focus on the skaters?

Ahem-IFSAElection-ahem. skuze me.

This list is highlighting the achievements of skaters all over the world. I applaude the WSSA. Hip hip... Hooray! Well done. I aspire to be on this list.

Vinz the problem is that a lot of skaters don't think it is nonsense. The IFSA needs to take account of the wide range of views of different skaters..otherwise it just represents a small cross section of the slalom community.

Clearly some (if not a large proportion of skaters) like the idea of a world ranking taking account of all contests. Why not contact the WSSA and combine efforts?

Huh?

Only if you live in a country that does not want its citizens to assemble.

Did I completely miss something?

Nope. You did not miss anything. The first years of IFSA were amazing. Now... they need an election.

Ahhh, too bad there is not more cooperation. It is really sad when politics get involved. Sports are supposed to be above such notions of entitlement and material possessions.

Keep us posted on any events you organize. Make sure to put up a website. I will try and make sure I look for any events near Idaho.

Getting off topic here, but what part of Idaho are you in? I'll be over skating in Coeur d'Alene and Kellogg the first week of July, and I'll have my slalom skates along (there may be three or four slalom skaters). Or you could come over and meet us sometime in Seattle where we've got a number of slalom skaters.

I don't have my slalom frames built yet. I live in Eastern Idaho. Idaho Falls area. Not sure what I will be doing in July. I may be visiting family in Utah.
