Default Custom Vapor Carbon vs Hybrid

Has anyone bought a Vapor Carbon and able to compare them with the hybrid?

Getting a laser scan for a custom boot on Thursday and will be buying a boot soon after, would be really interested if anyone had some experience with it.

Unfortunately I can't speak to that, but I am intensely curious - where are you getting your feet scanned and what's that like?!?!

No idea what it's like yet, will be getting it done tomorrow.

It's an I-ware scanner from a Japanese company, you put a pop sock (thin sock) over the top half of your foot and stand on the machine with one foot in the scanner, also your knee can't be bent.
They scan the foot and send that off to bont by email, then bont make cast of your foot based on the scan and try to build a boot around the cast.

It takes longer than a normal cast for bont to make it but it's much more accurate and it's harder to screw up.

I'm getting it done in Bristol, a company called Shoemaster (shoemaster.cix.co.uk) are doing the scan. Have to fly over there from Dublin to get it done. It's expensive too, 100 sterling for the scan.

For customs, when they take the mold/scan, you need to be in derby position with your knee bent forward.

Not according to the bont guy, any idea why that might be?

Who is your 'Bont guy'. Sounds like he doesn't know his stuff.

Well I emailed Daisy and she recommended I talk to John Maude. I don't know who he is.

Half our league (it's probably more like 90% but anyway) have Hybrids.

I skated on Patriots originally, now have semi-custom vaypors.

The biggest difference, for me, was the stiffness of the boot.

Hybrids I found to be a little too flexible for my liking, I prefer a stiffer boot. The Patriots were too stiff and cut a little high, with an odd shaped carbon piece that rubbed badly. The Vaypors are like heaven on my feet.

They are light and they are comfortable. The cut is just right, and they have a bit of stiffness that I prefer. But they are still flexible. I did have some heel slip issues so if you get Vaypors I recommend getting the little lace loop on the back of your heel - the bont laces are so long you will need to tie them under your plate or around your heel anyway. I got the durolite liner too - and now frequently play sans socks. Best feeling ever. In saying all that - several in our league love the hybrid - so I guess it depends on what you are looking for.
