Hey all, me again
![]() I was out skating today, and gave a 180 on flat a shot, and nailed it pretty well a few times! I was happy with myself, untill i tried it at a higher speed and fell as i landed backwards... I was wondering if anyone had any tips for doing these? Im fairly decent at skating backwards, its just when i landed i lost my balance Thanks in advance ![]() |

lean forwards
the landing is the toughest part of any 180. Just lean forwards. and keep your center of gravity low. |

thats not entirely true. its natral to lean forward, and if you lean to far then your gonna fall. your better off trying to keep your shoulders square with your knees when you land. Out of curiousity, which way were you falling. if you fell onto your back then you need to lean forwards more, and it you fell forwards then try and lean back a LITTLE bit more

Try staggering your feet at first. Keep them parallel, but one foot further out front. Another thing to think about is that when you jump to turn around, make sure you're jumping straight up. A lot of people seem to think they have to lean into the jump, but this causes them to be leaning too much when they land. Landing fakie is much easier than most people think. You should be standing pretty much straight up.

One of the things I used to always do is look down - to "spot my landing" or something. Don't look down. Remember, the the body goes where the head looks, so keep your head parallel to the ground. Just trust your feet and worry about your body's orientation.

180 just so happens to be my strong point, I can land one down a 7 set. Its different on flat then it is down stairs, but I know what your getting at. When you land absorb the shock of landing by bending your legs, try keep your ass as far back as possible and lean forwards, practise on how far you need to lean forward by trying several times. It may also look a bit stupid and exaggerated when you land, but you'll easily get the hang of it and start making the landing easy and impressive, this exaggeration will also get you used to the big shock you get when you do a stair set.
