Any recommendations for a good skate app? I'm using runkeeper and it's set to skating but it's kind of bonkers. I did a skate over 5k today with lots of hills and it calculated I'd used 86 calories.
![]() I have a fitness monitor watch ordered, so that will do a better job telling me what energy I've used/blood pressure/heart rate/etc. But I'd love an app that's designed for tracking skating. |

I use Endomondo. Never had an issue.

What is your Endomondo username? Jay?
And if you have been saving any old workout files from your GPS you can upload them or even import them from another app. so you don't have to start from scratch.

Calorie estimates from devices (not just smartphone apps) are mostly bologna anyway.
Some years ago, I notice that I would get much higher calorie numbers if I set my Garmin to record my skates as "other" instead of "bicycle". Later, I saw that it would compute calories even without heart rate data and didn't even complain about what I thought was essential data. |

For indoor use, I use the built-in workout app on my Samsung watch. I just set it to "Other Workout". It doesn't track distance (if I could detect a GPS signal, it would) but the results are quite comparable to other fitness trackers in terms of calories burnt (on average, 500 calories an hr)

My Lezyne GPS watch picks up satellites inside the house and has motion sensing capabilities, so when I skate freestyle slalom in the house on rainy days it does a fairly good job of recording the sessions inside. Even distance. And the mapping stays within on house of mine on either side. Amazing really.
