Correct, and unless I misread something, the op is in his happy place already.

Just moved the plate once so far. Hopefully experiments, and finds what's best.

I've move the plate back so not the rear wheels are under my heel pressure point, and the front wheels broadly under the ball of my foot. I think they call this an 'agility' mount. Totally accept your point that most of performance is down to the ability of the skater rather than the set up, I'm just trying to find the best set up which will also help my skating, which is basic artistic/freestyle. |

Personally my front axle location is preferred under my toes, about where one would grab a pencil with their feet, with the rear under the heel. My skates will stand up if placed with the heel down. Most SF mounts will not. My preference is not so good for spins as it is top speed, when my athletic prowess goes down in 20 years, I may use a shorter plate, who knows.

![]() If I have a standard sized plate I think it would push my font wheels nearer to where yours are located. I've got a pair of 'outdoor' skates I might experiment with a longer plate to see the difference (and avoid making the sole of my 120 boots like swiss cheese!) |

Lol.
Says the Arius skater. You show me a plate that's as light and as strong and I will take note.

A Red Arius sits at around 350 grams WITH a toestop boss, with 8mm chromoly axles, and a very rigid truck assembly that can turn. I'll never have to worry about breaking an axis pin vs traditional plates breaking kingpins. If I put in TI axles instead, even 8mm ones, I'd have the plate down to like 310g WITH a toestop boss. The power transfer is better in an arius due to the push force not being bushed by urethane/rubber. It's a hinge assembly that has its turning resisted by the cushions, so power input/output is much better as well as more precise. http://www.skatelogforum.com/forums/...p/t-13898.html 1 BOEN SPEED plate Size 8 - 172mm = 340 grams or 11.99 ounces Boen Speed, Size 5 (148mm): 286g 10.1 oz 18 grams per plate size, and 8mm wheelbase for each size would take the boen to 188mm if they even made a size 10 and about 356g . Correct me if I'm wrong. But that's without a stopper boss while using 7mm clip axles.

No they don't.
Not a common problem. Cracked trucks yeah most I have seen .The odd broken kingpin. Roll pins on flip axels coming out. All those are common to all plate company's. And the cracked trucks are still usable. And in my opinion are hairline cracks from the factory.

I wore some of my components out long ago. And came up with a fix for it, now theres 0 issues. Il never break an axis pin. I won't break my trucks, at most, I'll need new shims/cushions and axis pin sleeves. Maybe in 15 years I might need a new axis pin. Lol

Ever seen a broken Boen plate.? No
Ever seen a broken Boen truck? No cracked yes still usable Ever seen a broken Arius ? Yes Boen built and designed 30 years ago.Still the best. Arius built and designed 5 years ago...Not much interest.. Actually I think the Italians designed it in the 80s but drppped it.

Their kingpins break and a cracked truck will inevitably fail as well, it's just when. Arius has plenty of interest, many people use them. Hell, like 8 of us in my 1 rink use that plate. 0 issues . We dont use toestops so the breaks that have occurred will not happen to us.
