Talking Going to Las Vegas for my Birthday - Any good rinks / adult skate nights?

Greetings SLF,

I'm headed out to Vegas for my birthday this year, June 23rd~26th

I'm bringing my skates and gear with me, and I'm looking for places to skate.

It looks like the choices are 'Crystal Palace' skating centers and a LV Roller Hockey center.

I'll most likely be free Friday/Saturday/Sunday nights for skating, anybody local in Las Vegas have recommendations for which places to hit on what nights for the best skating?

Thanks,
-Mike-

Hi Machine,

I've been going to the C. Palace on Bolder Hwy, just down the road from Sam's Town Casino & RV Park., when we go to Vegas. We get there least every other yr.

I always carry at least 2 sets of wheels (101's and 96's) - as they don't keep up the Skate Floor too well. One time it might be real tight, 1 - 2 yrs later it's slick as glass - you never know.

They are open all kinds of hrs weekly. Even have a "Older Adult" session in the morning - once or twice a week with some old style Skate Dance Music.

Most folks I've met there have been quite friendly.

Followup. Went to the Boulder rink Friday and Sunday evening sessions.

The people are great, the rink is crap. Avoid at all costs.

Cash only joint with a broken ATM the employees could have given two ***** about it. "Everybody knows the ATM is always broken." was the response I got, to me, someone from out of town, in a town populated primarily by tourists.

I can't wear a fitted hat because it might magically fall off my head somehow and someone will run it over and hurt themselves... but every 14 year old (and a shitload of grown-ass adults) on the skating floor is holding a cellphone at arms length. I saw more than once a couple people fall and cellphones go skittering across the floor like stopsticks. But no hat, that's unsafe. Might fall off my head.

No I can't have a lid for my overpriced soda because it's a choking hazard, seriously... told to me with a straight face. But it's totally ok for kids to carry lidless sodas spilling fluids and crushed ice all over the tile floor. That's totally safe because it's not a choking hazzard. Enjoy your concussion and no refills on your spilled soda after picking yourself up off the floor.

I get yelled at for doing a kneedrop stop while safely exiting the rink floor but kids are cutting across the center of the rink across the 'lines' and slamming into people is totally ok, the one floor guard who seemed to have a hair up his ass about my activities turned a blind eye to outright dangerous skating.

Don't bill a skating night as an 'Adult' night if you let in kids.

The floor was good, the lights were good, and the music was good.

Rink needs new ownership, better management, better employees, and general overall maintenance so it's not a 'typical skating rink' stereotype. The whole place had a 'owned and operated by tightwad carnies' feel.

I go back to Vegas, I'll be skipping both rinks. But they did make me appreciate the rinks I have back home.

Hi Machine,

Your observations are what I've experienced too (excluding the Hat issue as I don't wear one). Sadly, most of the Rinks I've attended over the last 30 yrs have had the same issues - along with poor floors, bad sound, and poor music.

Glad the Floor was tight enough for you. They seem to go 2 to 3 yrs between Re-coatings - so it can get really Slick.

Yep !

I'll still Skate there, since I'm able to regulate what hrs I go to by-pass much of the Crazier stuff you encountered.
