Default Pensacola Skating Trails

Anyone living in Pensacola, FL or near that knows some pretty places to skate? I'm a neighborhood skater but pretty bits of scenery sure would be nice once in a while.

Dunno. I'll have to see. Sounds like it might though.

Carving up my neighbrohood sidewalks is sure fun and all but I get tired of having to deal with the drivers who obviously don't know how to react when they see somebody in rollerskates. This wouldn't be an issue if every danged sidewalk in my neighborhood didn't end randomly and force you onto the street.

I'll get in touch with him.

Blackwater Trail! Skated it when they were doing additions about two years ago. I'm sure it has increased greatly since then.

Sorry I just saw this post. I was on a trip in the area and rented a car to go over to the Blackwater Trail. I think I skated almost all of it. I'll guess it to be less than 10 miles long. I quit at the military base just shy of the Alabama border. Like most Florida trails, it gets high marks. It's mostly flat and smooth and well kept. There are few hills or obstacles and most of the cross roads are in the first mile. Coming from eastern Pa. I liked skating through some miles of rural south. It begins at a small, cute town (name escapes me) and there is a bike shop right at the trail head where you can buy stuff or get a bike rental for a friend. I'd guess it to be about 20 minutes from Pensacola.

I am in Pensacola, Florida, this weekend, and planning on skating the South Santa Rosa County Loop trail tomorrow morning around 7:30 AM. Anyone interested in joining me? Hoping to skate 20 or so miles.

Skated the South Santa Rosa County loop on the barrier island between Pensacola Beach and Navarre Beach. Great stretch of 10 miles with nothing but scenic ocean and beaches. However, this part of the loop is not the trail that is advertised. The trail portion does not cover most of the island, is only 4 to 5 feet wide, and is not well taken care of. Fine for runners, but not much else. If you are going to hit this route, skate in the road. The road is reasonably smooth, and most of the island has bike lane as the "path" only extends for about a mile on either side of the populated areas of the island. The road is a little rough, but not terrible. Be wary of the sand drifts and traffic. Good trip, though, and I liked the route. I will probably skate it again if/when I get back there.
