Default ROKBOL what do you think???

Hi

Saw this site. Some of you may have already seen it:
www.rokbol.com

Quote:
Definition: ROKBOL - (rock-ball) a game of sport, played by two teams, on inline skates, with two ended ROKSTIKS, bearing a hockey blade and a lacrosse basket, in an elliptically shaped bowl with goals at both ends. In the game, players pass, catch and smash a ball at their opponent’s goal, defending their own goal. ROKBOL is full contact. The physical design of ROKBOL inspires extreme skating, grinding and aerial acrobatics.
Doesn't look that extreme to me.
Do you think it will catch on?

Looks basically the same as the RollerCross (lacrosse on skates in a skate bowl) idea that started up 2 or 3 years ago then faded away (the website is gone anyway). Kind of reminds me of the original Rollerball movie. I don't see the point of the double ended sticks. Use either the hockey stick or the lacrosse stick, but not both. I used to play lacrosse, so I would take a stab at it. You would need plexiglass shields curved inward at the top of the bowl to keep the ball ( and skaters ) from rocketing up into the crowd.

BTW Dave, has your hand healed up yet from the run in with the out of control boarder?

Yes, definately a RollerBall type game.
I'd prefer the lacross stick too.

My finger is all healed up but I can't quite bend it like before...can't squeeze a climbing rope properly...oooops! There goes another sport. Thanks for asking though.

Looks a little equipment-intensive. Like for starters, you need that giant single-purpose bowl thing...
