hey man, I'm after Speed 7's or Special 154's. Almost scared to ask what such a thing is worth to you. They'd be going to a good home. I think I'm going to have to make my way to Melbourne one of these days, all the skaters and rinks seem to be down that way......

Plenty of rinks and stuff here, the best weekends are when the mob from up north come down.
Have to have a look at what I've got but I'll let you know.

I'm in Hervey Bay (4 hours north of Brisbane) and there are lots of obstacles to getting to Melbourne but it's certainly not impossible. I've heard of the occasional gathering of skate rats from this forum heading down that way, if I came down I would make it when that was happening for sure. I have just rebuilt my skates and gotten organised to get back on the track with some road skating to get back in skating shape so there's every chance I could make it there one day. In the meantime I want to build another set of skates so that would be very cool if you ratted through your big box of Boen plates and found some you were prepared to part with. I've got Special 162's, I reckon the next size or two down would be the go (either Specials or Speeds), even a pair of Boen Racing plates if they're the right size. Doesn't really matter what condition they're in as long as they aren't actually broken. Anyway, thanks for posting about it, I'll look forward to hearing from you....

my next round of six week drawing workshops will be underway by the start of May. Won't be this time, sounds like a very cool thing though. I'm a very successful artist which means I get to eat food every single day at least once. I am working on several things flat out right now which could mean I can buy things like airplane tickets one day. If it works. If it doesn't it won't be through lack of trying.....

Push the plates way forward (if they aren't already) and use a tall soft wheel like a Krypto Route 65 or the like. That'll take some of the rumble out.

The heavy plate will help a little on the bumps. You'll get tired and quit sooner.

I ended up passing on them after I heard that they were boat anchors. I just missed the perfect set of plates on ebay as I was out of town and didn't get back in time for the end of the auction. A set of thrashed Kangaroos with bent axles and broken truck pin, big graunches all over them. I could have done a lot with them but they're gone now.

In the meantime I am going to turn down these 85mm long board wheels I scored on the lathe and see if that makes a difference. The Kryptos 58mm's days are numbered. In the meantime they will do, I'll just skate on the road, it's smoother than the bike track by a long way.

It all has to happen when I find a chance to find some time to find a chance...

I reckon they would have been smoother on the rough than the Boens, they are so light they are hard to skate on the rough bricks at all. Good training....
