Talking Good Skate Music for Fitness Skate

OK, so I've recently became the DJ at my local rink, after skating there for 30 years. It's a small town and not too many people are still coming out to skate. I've been trying to help promote the place and I'm looking for some new game and music ideas, to help bring a crowd back!
Currently we play the following games:
Limbo, Spin the Bottle, Four Corners, Hokey Pokey, and Ghost Busters
I try to play all the new Top 40 hits and radio hits with a mix of 90's and 80's throwback classics. I was looking for some song ideas for our adult only fitness skate night, a playlist to start and warm up then pick up the pace.
Any suggestions will help and thanks in advance for your comments.

I like Crystal Method a lot. Born Too Slow, and the rest of that album (legion of boom), for that matter ("true grit", "realizer").

For 80s:
u2 "i will follow" , "Pride". "Beautiful Day" (Andrew Love speedskating video).

Simple Minds don't you forget about me (from the Breakfast Club Movie)

Default disco and funk

If it's adult night, you can't go wrong with disco hits, you just have to move to that beat.
Also don't forget slower R&B and Funk for folks that prefer to do slow jam moves.
Those songs are timeless for many of us.

Default Ask your Customers,

Hi Disranger,

If you look down below under Roller Session you will see many of my posts with Music added for Great Adult Hard Skating. The Best Music and Mix of Stuff has been provided by Marc at Skateland when I skated there. Sometimes I hate his music choices, yet others like them a lot, so onto my thought.

Make sure you ask your customers to listen to tunes on Sirius, XFinity TV, a radio station they like and come in with ideas. I have met many skaters, since it was a huge crowd in those days, from the 1980s and they love Billy Joel, Elton John, Cindi Lauper and more like the BeeGees

Two of the above just for an idea of the 1980s.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eFTLKWw542g Billy
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MSVTOMkJdqs BeeGeeeee w/that voice

Now if you have Old Organ Skaters, lots of great tunes there too,

Here is a Flea Bop, Boppers at their game
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0iZbxP8Tgm0

I have skated for so so so long that I can find a new tune that the kids skate to that I love and reminds me of an older tune. Yet Not everyone is so flexible, nor has skated so so long.

Robin's skates good
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yyDUC1LUXSU

Got add one here on an edit.

Pharrel skates good
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6Sxv-sUYtM

So So many great new songs, yet many are still stuck where they were, so you got to help them build on UP.

That is so true, in fact I used to only skate on Thursdays old school night, and when I wanted to get in more time I checked out other nights, and was introduced to a whole lot of great songs I now love to skate to. Now I think I like the other nights more. A lot of the old school stuff is slower, which is fine, but I like to move.

Default New Fun Songs

Now if you can get the OLD

All mostly younger than my 67 yrs this November

Skate to this stuff with the young kids, and teens. Then you have made progress.

OLD and NEW each with it's own flavor.

Enrique Iglesias Bailandro (I gave you the Spanish version)
So you can see it is the Music and Vocal Tones that go past Language
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ApeC2AGENgo

Got another one from the Portuguese on a Boat.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1YXcD0njts
Oops and Old Tune, Yet you see what I mean

Taylor on a Good Beat, and UpBeat attitude.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfWlot6h_JM

Thinking of too many old and new

Wanted to find a good one that the Black Rap Skaters like, yet can not find the search terms. Again good beat yet a bit different.. And I couldd't find the School Bus song that is great...

OK A Great Sugar Hill Song. Now I had this played with some great Derby guys skating. Their negative was that it went on forever.. Yep that is right you got to keep skating hard for longer to this song. Yet it can be skated multiple ways. The two older white 80s skaters said yep a lot of long killer songs in their day skating on super crowded rinks

Rappers Delight

Default Yep Frankie

Thanks

It seems like I keep on forgetting both the song name and the artist. That is a long time of not remembering. OK Sometimes I remember. Yes I love this song.

Here is another yet I didn't know it had to do with Drugs. It skates OK and if you don't know it is about some hard drug, you are better off.

Default Can't forget Betty Davis Eyes

This is one of the top top 1980s rated hits.

Song at Betty Davis's Funeral. Taylor Swift made a version and I don't like it yet hey the Young have to give a Try..

Know skaters that have to have this played several times a night..

Default Leader for the Chain/Gang Skate

Hi,

Now I know you are looking for the music yet you also need a leader that sets the tempo so the gang can follow on behind and skate faster than they thought they could skate. They actually get exhausted including the leader, since the line even pushes the lead person

You got to start with at least one that can tempo the skaters that follow him or her behind in a line around the outside of the rink. Usually a taller male or a slender female works well if they can skate well and slow down just a bit to get the gang to chase, chase. I am short so I don't make a good leader unless at my home rink with middle age skaters. That is just the way humans work.

Eventually, if you keep growing, you grow to multiple lines of skaters each chasing each other in a tight fast lane. Those huge lines are FUN FUN

Same kind of music for skating as for driving. You need a good catchy flow and some but not too much emotional involvement.

For me that means The Cure

Default Well personally......

I love to skate balads and soft rock. How about "Empire State of Mind" as a warm up. This song does a great build to get your wheels warm. mI can get going to a slow song as well as a fast one. Just different steps. But as far as top 40 I'll stick to the current stuff. The DJ at Happy Valley always plays a couple of 80's tunes "for me". But I really don't care for them. MJ is ok but over and over, I'll skip.
