Has anyone ever tried or attended an outdoor skating session? Maybe once a month or every couple weeks? In a park or something similar?
Obviously, everyone would have to have their own skates. Would be nice to have a bunch of used ones for people that needed to rent skates. Add a DJ, a food vendor and a nice night. Sounds like a blast! Thoughts & ideas welcome :-) |

There are a few in Houston I attend.
One is at a high school parking garage. The local skate shop sponsors it. The other is in a rooftop parking garage above a bar. The bar sponsors it. Both have a volunteer DJ. |

Central Park Dance Skaters Association, every weekend in the summer (as scheduled).
http://cpdsa.org Mostly everyone has their own skates, but sometimes a skate rental truck shows up (someone really took a lot of initiative). https://www.facebook.com/SkateTruckNYC/ You can skate around the park, you can skate in the dance circle, or you can do slalom skating after 5pm closer to the band shell (unrelated to CPDSA). It's run by volunteers. It's a cast of characters, you're guaranteed to have a blast. Then you have the Weds Night Skate, where a group inline skaters skate 10+miles around the city. It's too fast for me. I like dancing and cones. Here's the link. http://weskateny.org Skate Boston in Sept... http://skate-boston.net These are just a few local to me. Good thread starter btw. ![]() |

There are some great places to skate here, but there is almost zero interest in outdoor skating anymore ![]() However, roller skates in skate-parks are popular here. I think they are more fun than boardwalks as most cities walks are getting too old, too many cracks, etc. It's funny, it's become such an esoteric interest if you are into it for long you know almost all of then in your city. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AyO46i7lKgI We need to make America skate again!
