Default Sneaker Skates-Proper Mounting

Skate Gurus:

Hey. I am looking to build a personal pair of outdoor skates for skating at the beach and general outdoor street skating. I want turn a nice pair of DC Skate Shoes which essentially look and feel like a Riedell 951 but even more comfortable. What is the proper way to mount plates on sneakers that will be both stable and secure.

Thanks!

Jeff

Well, if you SEARCH the forums for "outdoor build" you are going to find some PICs and threads like these two:

Emerica Reynolds Lites Skate shoe with DragonPlate carbon fiber sole stiffener sheet glue bonded (Shoe Goo) to sole:

Build using Nike BB shoe with Skins plates and Laser trucks converted to DA by using longer kingpins:

Default Outdoor Skate Builds

Wow. That does look sweet. Gluing carbon fiber sheets to the sneakers for support & stiffness is genius. Although I don't know a damn thing about working with carbon fiber or shoe goo. I guess I could use some advise on that.

What is the recommended thickness of carbon fiber sheet. How easy is it to cut or drill. What is best to use to cut the carbon fiber sheets.

Thanks,

Jeff
