Default stumbling into the 20th century, "servo go go"

i guess people with computers know this already, but i finaly figured out to put the song title in quotations to make searches better.

"servo go go" was another i had been trying to remember who did for years. it's tyrone brunson, off an album titled "fresh". i don't remember the whole album being that good like the webster lewis one, and i can't find it anyway on cd (found a used lp on amazon though. i may get a cheap copy).

my brother's going to give me one of his old computers he had refurbed, so maybe i'll actually get a clue as to how to work these dohickies. one more century to go...

Default "voices inside my head"

i knew the version i heard at the rink wasn't the police. it was a group or dj named common sense. if you've heard the police version, it wasn't much different except maybe the beat was mixed louder and and it was extended out to be a much longer song.

some mechelle ndegeocello

she came out after i stopped skating but thinking on it some of it would probaly be pretty good to skate to. the lyrics can be kinda raw on some songs though. might be good on head phones but not blaring through the rink speakers.

pocketbook
shootin' up and gett'n high-not for kids obviously
step into the projects-some cussing
soul on ice-probaly not real politicly correct
call me
deuteronomy-a lot of n-word
if that's your boyfriend (he wasn't last night)

Default Just go to the JAMSKATER.COM Music Page...

and you will find all kinds of old school and new school jams to skate too. All the classics and some new stuff too. Click on a song and listen to it on your default media player. Right-Click on a link and then click Save Target As to save a song to your computer. It's all a free service from JAMSKATER.COM.

You can find my Music Page at:

http://www.jamskater.com/music.php

AcuraAms,

You would have loved the sessions I DJ'ed back in the 80's.

Your list reads like the play list from one of my typical sessions! I can honestly say that I have played every song on that list at one time or another.

Myself and another DJ were the two main session guys at our rink. We both were avid skaters before becoming DJ's and both worked at clubs in the area besides working at the rink.

Our goal for each session was, quite simply, to wear out the customers! The music and pacing was an intergral part of how our rink operated and they invested in the best sound and light equipment. It was part of the package, and part of the experience we offered our customers.

Sad to say, many rinks today seem content to skimp on the musical aspect of the rink experience, and the music selection at times seems like nothing more than an afterthought.

if they haven't been named two classic trucking songs...
Chain Gang by U-gents
and
Freestyle Express by Freestyle Express...
oh ...and several great jams are on the Bass of 4 sight label..
Transformer ...Mega Jon's Bass...are two of the best on that label...

for good hard stepping I am really enjoying
Fandango and Get Down ...both by DJ Quik ...but are really raunchy...

Work by Naughty by Nature
Like that by Memphis Bleek are good stepping songs....

and for the slow down...
Purify Me by Indie Arie
There'll never be by Switch
Weekend Girl by SOS Band...

and for new releases...
Love Sex and Magic by Ciara and JT is going straight to the top...and will make you run your butt off if you like good beats to roll to....

Default "Last Night"

Hi ALL,

Since this is older than Out Skate U's goal of 2008-09 music I am posting this here. Who knows maybe I already posted this song in the near past yet "Last Night" didn't come up in the SkateLog search engine.

Lots of great stuff is going on in this song and it can be skated very fast or slow which is kind of neat. Great interludes, and opportunities.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYpfHur15qQ

Yours in Skating, MA/NY Skating Dave

Edit-01: As I read my other posts and know my heart, I wondered about this post of mine. OK in this video they are rich and black so how does that equate to us who may not have any of those similarities. Like most of us in the middle we are searching for a mate and there is conflict that can be enjoyable when it is all over for a spell. The emotions of opposite yet congruent sexes tell a great tale in this music.

You guys have already covered pretty much every song I have skated to in my life except for one possible exception:

"The only way is up" - Yazz and the Plastic Population

Aside from that I recall us all sitting in a line in the middle of the rink "dancing" to "oops upside your head" by the Gap Band on numerous occasions
