I always wanted to throw down something Crosby stills and nash..."love the one your with" or Claptons "I shot the sheriff" during a hot shuffle session just to see what people would do.

Nice.

How about David Allen Coe songs at a predominantly black rink? Now that would turn the heads to the DJ booth right quick as a "worst song you could ever play here"

Don't forget to insert your rinks general atmosphere along with the songs! That matters

Or playing scream-o at an old style organ skate, or some dubstep. Haha

The Adult skate I go to plays songs from "Frozen." They play a version of Amazing Grace sung by Elvis, Living La Vida Loca and a bunch of other crap.

Frozen is popular music for the sessions that cater to families(the kids seem to like it). I hear it in San Antonio too. It might be good for the artistic skater??

My rink plays orchestra music while everybody is getting ready, before the session starts. I know some people like it, and actually have sessions that are all orchestra music. 2-5 hours of that wouldn't be good for me...lol

Two out of three are guilty pleasures. I'm not sure why they sing a song about the time Elsa bacame a witch, but it is great to skate to. "Livin' la Vida Loca" really gets you moving.

I found the premise for this thread odd. Who wants to remember sucky songs? But oddly enough, I kinda can. One song, that isn't sucky in the right context always makes me laugh at Moonlight. Foghat: Slow Ride. Now, Slow Ride can be a good song, if it is set up. If it is part of a Rock Set, and you are in the Rock groove. But Moonlight virtually never plays rock. And where they stick it in, the rhythm and feel of it is all wrong. It sticks out like a sore thumb. The way they insert it makes the whole room feel like they hit a brick wall.

So, maybe not so much a bad song, but a poor choice in where to insert it.

This version might not be so bad, minus the tacky cowboy at the beginning!

I am liking the idea more and more. Now I am going to be taking note for flops as I skate.

So after re-reading this three times, I just gotta ask...

In light of the song being discussed, is the innuendo in your post intentional, or merely coincidental?

** For the record, Slow Ride is a great song; it's in regular rotation on my iPod.

LOL. Yeah, I noticed that after posting. Coincidental.

I do gotta say, they have kinda ruined Slow Ride for me. I used to be able to listen to it fine. Now, every time I hear it, I think of the rink. They make it seem like a drag queen at a cotillion. Now I can't shake that association.

The Day the Music Died

Hard to top the Edmund Fitzgerald though.

Default Frozen One of them / YET Most good

Hi ALL,

Got a lot of songs I don't like, EVEN if other skaters of different ages like them. And I do mean others like songs I do not like. Do not remember all of them over the years. Some fast, some speed, some slow, some rap, some all over the place. Yet if it has a beat, idea, or tempo, or a follow me skater I will skate it.

Recently I disliked one of the Frozen ones. Heard it too too many times. Just how many times can you hear a girl crying or chanting a gal uplifting song without a great beat. I don't mind sappy yet I do have my limits. Compare Frozen to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Obhsql25Hc4 I like this Happy Birthday by Mickey and Donald better because it makes you bounce.

Anyway I love skating to music, rink music not ear buds. Each song quite often gives another opportunity to skate in a different way. Or to skate with ideas in your head and skate to a different beat or style. When good it makes you vary your presentation.

SO Cats in Cradle, although kind of sucky for fast forward can be skated well and with spirit.

If you let the emotions flow the song skates OK to good. I do understand the words in this song from personal experience before me and with my own sons. So it has meaning for me as a skater.

Even Amazing Grace can be skated well. You just have to modify how you skate and skate to the song like an artist.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Obhsql25Hc4
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIRxLW6kRMM

Which brings me to this current popular violin song by some nice looking talented ladies. Who would ever guess this song could grow on you and you could see the magic. After a long search I can not find the song I see played regularly. Yet this is the jist of the music.

Edit-01 You can even skate this song changing your style, and going fast in places.
