I came up with the idea after badly rolling my ankle in derby practice in my very first pair of skates back in 2009. low-top Riedell Phantoms. I'd roadraced motorcycles in the Sidi Vortice Air boots so I knew the external ankle brace potentially had enough articulation to allow it to function as a skate boot.

So I talked to Doc and he was willing to take a shot at mounting a plate to them.

The gamble paid off, they skated great and I loved them. To the point that even after having a set of custom Bonts built I ended up switching back to the battle boots and selling the Bonts off.

With the new wheels and mag plate they're way lighter than the original XK4-DA45 / Fanjet build, I can't wait to skate them this weekend.

Here's the original 4 page thread from back in 2010 - http://www.skatelogforum.com/forums/...ad.php?t=28924

Those look great. Almost like they should be in an 80's sci-fi movie.
