Which threads in the SkateLog Fitness Skating Forum would you recommend to be included in a list of the most interesting, most useful, most significant, or most popular discussions in that forum? I'll start by listing a few and I will add more as you guys recommend them:
- Quick links to different types of injury discussions - Heart rate montor buying discussions - GPS using discussions - GPS buying discussions - Eat/drink/supplement discussions - Kathie Last edited by Kathie Fry; December 27th, 2008 at 07:59 PM. |

a "what skate should I buy?" thread - just start a new one, and ask people to use it in the future.
recovery and electrolyte drinks? (not sure if this comes up here or in Speed more.) Last edited by Bill in Houston; December 28th, 2008 at 02:26 AM. Reason: took out the ones Kathie put on her big list |

Sticky both the "what did you do today" and the Weight loss threads. They're usually at the top anyhow!

Oh, Come on!
You know it has to be 'Shows us a picture of your feet' and 'Real Men Lift Girls over their heads.' There, now it's done. |

OMG I forgot about the feet and lifting girls discussions! But I think they're in the main forum.
Just FYI everybody, the point of this discussion is to build a quick reference guide to some of our most significant discussions, especially for new forum users. Can you think of any other discussion we should add to Fitness Forum quick reference list? - K |

Kathy, i guess it would depend on how they would be used. If it was the sticky kind, like thos e threads that are always at the top of the list, then only the Training Log and maybe the weight log, like foot2big said. Frankly, if this is the case, i prefer that the list be short becuase i dislike having to look down a long list of sticky threads to find the active posts, but a couple of entries there is not bad.
Thanks. |

man, if there was a function where a user could enable or disable "stickies" so that you only saw them if you wanted to, that would be cool. ps. Bill, see me in my office before you go home today and shelly, keep your eyes on the road, pal. |

Is there a "skaters terminology" thread? That would be helpful for beginners.
It would be nice if all the how to threads were together.

I think I am not saying this very well, because what I am trying to say is that I am *not* going to sticky a bunch of threads because I feel the same way you guys do about sticky posts. But people are always asking me to sticky this and sticky that, so in order to honor some of those requests, and help new forum visitors find some of our most interesting discussions of the past, I am creating one sticky thread in each of our subforums. What do you think... is it a good idea or a bad idea?

Tolerate it? definitely, but then I don't have the propensity towards the brown nosery that our pal from houston seems so eager to illustrate. Bill, honestly, you really don't know that much about the womens, do you? dude, it's okay, we're all friends here, mostly. ![]() |

I'm not naturally likeable like you, speedy, so I sometimes overcompensate.

I do like the idea of Bill - to stick just a single and locked thread/post with a list of usefull things, similar like the long proven one in the general interest section (to make your first post....)
What i disagree with is the importance of the logs in there. Although this site is named skatelogforum I mostly appreciate the use after the previous virtual city askaboutskating: let people ask questions and find answers. The logging part may be interesting to a group of inmates - to share their daily things and brag about, but the other topics are more of the " how to" kind. So my list would be:
what surprised me in the working of the forum that a sticky thread keeps on top of the list even on page 2, 3 etc. so it's kinda super-sticky. that counts even more to make just one single thread to stay up there, as almost a menu item. a list would flood the page on small resolution computers and hide half the forum.... ![]()

I don't read all the threads, mostly the ones here in Fitness and Training, but I do like learning how to technique stuff....I spent a lot of time reading here learning how people learned to stop, do crossovers, etc. I really learned a lot lurking about those threads that included this information, but it wasn't always easy to find. The combination of linked how to videos and real life experience is facinating and allows those of us who are really just wishful thinkers think they can actually skate, at least by the armchair method.
My secret service cuz was only an armchair sailor long before he bought a large boat and sailed the world raising his children on the boat. |

![]() ![]() ![]() From a statistic point of view you may be right. But for two reasons I dont think statistics rule... - the logs are popular by a relatively small group of users that come and post here almost daily. Is postcount more important then the quality or the spread of information? - logging what you do is not the same as sharing valuable or informative things. In my very personal opinion, I am not interested if you skated so-and-so-many kilometers yesterday. Dont mix that up with personal interest in people BTW. But hey, thats my humble opinion - i hope i made it clear at least. Sometimes i dont mind being inscrutable but this time I gave it a try ![]()
