Thinking of buying some vintage mens Chicago skates. They look to be around 1950's to 60's. Loose ball, clay 76 (i think) wheels.
These are basically unused as new vintage skates. Plate has only one cushion front and back. Does anyone here skate on anything similar and do they like them? Also what is the width fit like on vintage Chicago's, the look like they might be quite narrow and i have pretty wide feet although was thinking if I soften the leather well, they might stretch in time. Anyway thoughts and opinions welcome. Last edited by Waywardwheels; November 4th, 2019 at 07:04 AM. |

I have a really nice pair that I found at an antique show sitting here that I want to restore and use. They're loose bearing too. They're really nice skates!

So after more thought, decided that vintage isn't the way to go but if funds allow in the future it might be fun to collect some vintage skates.
Sk8fanatics didn't reply to me unfortunately, but I have ended up buying some minimac fomac wheels from them as postage to Australia was the best I could find. At least I can try out some real hard wheels to start with on my current not so good skates. Going to slowly build some dream skates now... Already have some new but old/vintage Wifa leather boots that I'm trying to stretch out a bit. Hoping they will do for now but looking at Riedell 172 og in future. Plan on buying a roll-line Dance plate to go on the wifa boot for now and upgrade the boot later. |
