Default Best way to find local groups and more?

Hi! A few questions here...
I am new to slalom and because of the weather have yet to try out my new sebas. I was looking online for any groups or clubs that meet up or offer lessons (basically anything that involves meeting with other skaters) in my city, and I have not found anything. I live near Toronto Canada and there are groups there but it's too far for me to go for meet ups right now especially without a car. I thought it would be nice to meet up with other people and maybe make new friends. Do other people run into this problem often? Other than simple google and Facebook searches is there a place to find these types of things?
