As there's a difference between indoor and outdoor wheels, what wheels are you going to use?

I used the Quake 92a wheels that came with my Crazy Skates (the blue ones).

When I got the skates over the summer I pulled them off and stuck on Radar Energys.....it was an eye-opener to skate on something besides concrete for the first time. The Quakes worked great but with the nice, smooth surface and me pushing what I could do I found out quickly that the Quakes are too big!

Also, I think there was a difference between how my trucks performed outside vs inside (or I've gained weight this winter?). Gonna skate some more with them as they are before I make any changes.

I had a blast!

Like an idiot I thought it would be fun to drive to Jumpin' Jupiter in the snow (I live in GR proper).

Will do! Expect me and a few like-minded coworkers....two of us are inline skaters who are crawling up the walls for wheel action so we're already making plans to do this regularly (and locally).

I am in Grand Rapids as well and finally back skating after a 7 month layoff due to tearing up my ankle playing basketball. I generally go to Kentwood due to being right around the corner from my house however I would definitely make the drive to Grandville to skate Tary Hall.

Sean Kirt is my Facebook go ahead and add me.

Loved it! There's something about gliding along without worrying about tiny rocks and cracks that could trip me up.

I know what you mean! Really fun. Turning and slicing makes you work too avoiding the kids. So your turning abilities will get better. I had a few close calls yesterday. Didn't hit anyone but missed them by inches. Really I think skating indoors is much more fun than outdoors unless you are at a skatepark. That is if the rink is a quality place to skate at.

Same here.

About the only time I prefer outdoors is when my friends and I are thrashing through the college campus playing tag or some other hide n seek kinda shizz, or marco polo echo locating to chase each other down. good fun stuff. Would be hella awesome with some nice walkie talkies. Skating the streets of NYC during EWNB weekend is also super fun.

At the rink we play capture the flag every now and then(private game) someone sticks a beanie, glow stick, or some kind of item in their pocket/waistband. The goal is to get it from them, no teams, every man for himself(though I suppose you could do teams and get physical for derby training ). We play no hands, only positional skating or agility to evade from someone stealing the flag item. Once you've stolen it, you get 1 lap to position the flag and asses the situation before being pursued. If you fall while hockey stopping or running away, you have to forfeit the flag. lol, we do get in trouble for it though if the game gets a bit more intense, al you can hear throughout the rink is people hauling arse and hockey stopping everywhere while passing all the other skaters at high speed.

Good times.

The other thing that's great about a rink(for me at least) is you can turn on the speed and not leave your friends 1/4 mile back in the dust

One of my friends wiped out a little kid....good thing my fiend is only 5'1" or so.

Seriously, it was just glorious to glide along, for lack of a better word.

WE have issues with wrong way skaters. Be careful and try not to avoid too much as you will pay for it. You can only do so much to avoid, don't get yourself hurt over it. I got very painful damage to my eye and face because of wrong way skaters. If they are going the wrong way, it is not your fault. I now have cataracts in my right eye due to the head on crash. Still have loss of feeling in my face and upper jaw.

Which rink to do skate at Brian? I had been going to Adult Night at Kentwood for awhile but hurt my ankle playing basketball and was off for 6 months. I just started up again and have been going Saturday's at Kentwood with my daughter.
