Default Trails in Sunningdale, UK, or in London

My wife and I are heading to London for our vacation in a couple of weeks. We happen to be there when the London Inline Marathon is scheduled, so I managed to get myself registered. However, we will be in London (specifically Sunningdale where we are staying with family) for about 10 days prior to the race. I am hoping to get some training in before the race.

Are there any good trails to skate in Sunningdale, UK just outside of London, or any other places in and around London?

Thanks!

Do you mean Sunningdale near Ascot? If so you're not too far away from Dorney Lake, Eaton College's rowing lake. It's mostly open to the public and a lot of the local Rollergirls (including me) go and skate around its 5km circumference. The paths are lovely and smooth. It is closing to the public soon in preparation for the Olympics do check its website for access. There's also an awesome pub up the road called the Pineapple that's worth stopping at after.

Hyde Oark in London is popular with skaters, especially around the Serpentine. There are also organised street skates which leave from the park every Friday night and Sunday afternoon weather permitting. Major Kusaknocky (SLF member) did both a few weeks ago when she was here.

Sunningdale is also the place where my derby league practices, at Charters School. If you want to come and have a skate at one of our four weekly sessions drop me a line and I'll arrange it. If it's after the 18th I won't be there in person though.
If you're here before the 18th it would be nice to meet up! If there is anything else I can help you with eg; restaurant recs, places to see etc I'm happy to help, seeing as I'm a local!

I found out over the weekend it is near Ascot. I will check out Dorney Lake. We will be in London most often, and we are spending a couple of days in Dublin, also. Trip will be from May 10 to May 22, with the marathon race on May 20. Probably won't make a derby practice, and the derby girls may not like skating with an inline guy. That, or I am afraid of unsolicited elbows...

Thanks for the info!

The marathon event has a quad event, also. That is where I will be on the 20th, probably the only yank, hopefully in my bright blue team skin suit (scary prospect for me).

Anyone else going to be at the race?
