Default jordan river trails, salt lake, utah

Most of the jordan river crossings are underwater due to higher than normal snow run-off this spring. But when things dry out, there are lots of new sections to explore. Until then keeps those wheels high n' dry...

Here is a a great resource link to updated maps that plot the trail from north to south.

edit: UPDATES: Sept 2011 northern section of trail is open from 7800 South to 200 South(downtown SLC). Bridge at 7800 heading southbound is still under water....

UPDATES: Sept 2011 10 miles of southern sections from 9000 South to 14600 South, there are 5 river crossings:
  • The crossing at 10600 South is questionable - it can be flooded or not, but you can take the bypass path up to the road above and cross at the street then regain access to the trail.
  • Approx 11400 South the path is in close proximity to the river, open now, but can flood out quickly. There are no alternate crossings at this point.
  • the bridge at 12300 South is still underwater - it's literately lost in the river. You can cross over via the Rotary park access roads then using sidewalks at 12300 South.
  • 1-1/2 miles north of 146000 South(at the Arrowhead trail split) the trail had eroded into the river and a short section of gravel & bark chip bypass is in place.
  • The Bangerter Rd crossing is questionable - the path is low and can be open or submerged in the river - so it may rep-empt your skate.

UPDATES APRIL 2012:
South end, approx. 13800 South, trail still washed out, but SL county is in process of re-aligning the section of trail so that it will bypass the rivers edge. That may be completed by summer, but no date given.

North end, from Rose Park area(downtown SLC) is extended north now connecting to the 14 miles of Legacy trail section. There is still unconnected trial form 100 N to 200 S, so a bit of ingenious navigation is required. Otherwise you can skate south to 9800 South. Still a gap from 9800 S to 10000 South as well... maybe one day soon funds will come and link up that remaining section as well. (a skater can dream, right?)

And, on a sad reality note: please be careful out there, there was a recent report of attempted attack/assault, attacker was not caught, but victim got away. Best to skate with friends!

Be Safe!
