Default Toronto [scenic] skating trails

Perhaps this should be in the trails section, but I think this thread would get more exposure here (if not also in the speed skating subforum).

Anyway, I'm heading out to Niagara Falls (ON)/Toronto next weekend (the Labo[u]r Day weekend), and I'm wondering if anyone knows of some nice, scenic trails that would be great to skate with my girlfriend. Speed skate-friendly a plus, but not required.

In Niagara Falls, I know that the pavement around the falls is cobblestone and is just not skate-friendly (as I've also tried)

In Toronto, I've done the Queen's Quay/Lakeshore Blvd route, but it may be a bit too crowded, especially around downtown and this weekend. I've also considered Centre Island, but I've never been to the island itself to gauge the trails or the traffic.

If anyone from the Toronto area knows of some trails, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks!

EDIT: Well, I intended this thread to be in the Main actual... looks I messed up...

On the US side, there is some decent trail along the river near the falls and downstream toward the aquarium. On the Canadian side, it seemed like there was a nice park downstream of the falls. Are there trails in that park?

For Toronto, look up Michael Garvin on Facebook and ask him.
