After decades of quad vert without a skid lid or safety anything...I know, I've heard it all before...I finally ended up in the Hospital for doing something totally stupid. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYJgY2PJ_vk
No, I didn't land head 1st on the concrete. However, a few years back I did dislocate an index finger in a bowl...yes that was the entire extent of bodily damage till now. I broke my arm but NOT in a skateboard bowl as everyone expected. ![]() I was carrying a 3/4 HP submersible pump on my shoulder and slipped on a piece of plastic. On the way down, my knee-jerk reaction was to stick out my damn arm and catch the 60 lb+ pump. I saved the pump....what an idiot!!! It hit just above my wrist and must have crunched my arm pretty damn good as all the Nurses were pointing at my X-rays and commenting, "Have you ever seen one like this?". Oh Great! Anyway, they put me under and I woke up with a brand new Titanium plate. I guess I won't be rollin' anywhere in the near future. That doesn't stop any of you from having loads of fun so give it some for me too !!!! |

Go figure. A pump does you in. Ah well, a little rest and you'll be back at it. I haven't fallen skating in a long time. I have taken some bike falls. Luckily, no damage. Just sore for a bit.

Anyway, my friend landed and as he was stopping, instead of slding the skis sideways and on edge, he jumped, turned them sideways and edged, skis are 250-270cm long, a lot of ski, he landed going sideways at a slow speed and...blew both acl's. Two years later he was crossing a work site with his metal tool box on his shoulder, fell, broke his neck, lived. Be careful out there. |

Dave, Dave, Dave. The pump story sucks. Too boring. Remember, you’re the death-defying bowl flip guy. Jeez, spice up the story, dude. Say that you were attempting a double gainer while carrying a 60 lbs. case of Grey Goose. More sexy, yes? And that way the chicks with throw themselves at you and ask to sign your arm cast. Think about it. That was a missed opportunity.
Hope it’s a quick recovery. |
