All,
My league is trying to recruit new fans. We have done a couple of parades (we are going to let our juniors take over parades), meet and greets, word of mouth and facebook/IG blasting. What are some other ideas to get a bigger fan base? Thanks! |

Trick or BeatHer,
Suggestions: Use Local Promoters, Attend Local Rinks Sessions to Meet/Greet, and Demo your Skating, Invite local TV Stations, and Radio, to come see your Practice Sessions to get your Story out, Ads in local Papers and Fliers, If you have a decent Videographer, Record your Bouts and get them up on VIMEO and YouTube. I'm starting my 3rd year of doing this for one local League and putting to VIMEO https://vimeo.com/kcrw So I can advise you on the particulars of how to do this one. See if local Schools might let you put on Demos on Campus. Lots of options available. Harold

Hi Trick or BeatHer,
Hope they help you out. Basically, any Community Activities you can participate in that will get your Brand out to the Public in a Positive way will be beneficial. Looks like you've already started that process. These can include any Volunteer Options available too. Any youth and/or young adult oriented systems would be valuable considerations. Are you folks associated with any Rink or particular Venue at present ? Are any of your folks into doing Video, or do you have a Video Person already to go ? Harold

Hi All,
Since everyone here is Internet Literate, search up on all the Derby groups that have an On-Line presence. Go to their Sites and see what all they are involved in locally. See what fits your situation. Example: https://wftda.com/leagues Good Hunting ! Harold

Hi All,
At Last Nites Game, Bout 1, we had some folks from the PBS Video Production Team out doing Video. Not sure if it was the Local Station or from the National System. They are making a Special on Veterans, and it turns out one of our Ladies is a Veteran. They spent the first Bout all over the Skate Floor doing Video with a focus on her - so you can see them in the Video I'll put up in next couple of days. One of the fellows even came up and sat next to me for a few minutes, to get some footage from my position's perspective. Will be interesting to see if any of it make's "the Cut" in their final Production. https://vimeo.com/164017089 This will give the Sport and our Local League some nice Local/National exposure, whenever the Special comes out. Harold
