Default $200 or less for new heat moldable speed boot?

Guys,

I appreciate the assistance regarding swapping a speed boot onto my RB Speedmachine RX100's. I've been looking for a boot for around $200 that is heat moldable but am having limited success. On another post I saw Bont can do a semi-custom boot for $30 added to the price of the boot so that makes the Cheetah the closest to my price range but that is still close to $300 for the boot.

I guess if it fit well, it's probably worth the nickles but that puts me at approximately $600 invested in an RB fitness skate.

Should I just spend another $350ish on a pair of Bont skates?

The RB skates are becoming painfull around the inside lump of my ankle. Actually it's another lump below that. Bone nonetheless.

Any ideas?

I thought that a couple of places had Jets for $200... Does that apply to 2-point as well?

Bill I just checked inline warehouse and you are right. $198 for the jet 2pt! That may do the trick.

You can do semi-custom on each of those boots and they are both heat moldable.

a little. cheetah boasts a heat moldable tongue. It is very limited to say that area, not the whole boot as it is fiberglass which can be slightly molded.

Jet is carbon and moldable of course. and webersports.com gave me a quote on a 3pt jet of $225 shipping included.

size 10 cheetah 4X100...on nettracing used. $200 bucks! FYI

Is the Jet a good speed boot? I, too, am considering replacing the boot of my
K2Rad100 with a speed boot b/c although the boot is tight, my heel shifts.... I'm just overwhelmed thinking about what to get on a limited budget...

The Jet is a good boot, especially for 200 bucks. If you want arch support you will probably have to add it yourself. Not a big deal, though.

On the radical 100 boot, do this first. I did it on my boots... At each side of the heel, on the outside of the boot, do you see how there is a small space between the hard exterior shell and the soft boot? That means that the hard shell is doing nothing to hold your heel in place. We're gonna fix that.

-Cut four 1" squares of something that is about 1/8 of an inch thick. I used coroplast, that corrugated plastic stuff that signs are made of. You could use funfoam or cork or leather or whatever you like.
-Stuff that piece of material between the hard shell and the soft boot. Do this in four places. Inside left, outside left, inside right, outside right.

Ta daaa! Does all that make sense? This will hold your heel in place better. You might need a material that is a different thickness, depending how much slop you are trying to take up.

Getting an edge in the rad boots always depended where my heels had shifted to, but this change kept my heel from moving side to side.

This is clearly not the "right" way to fix anything, but it might get you a few more months of use out of those boots before you decide that you have to buy speed boots. It worked well for me.

OTOH, a 2pt Jet on your K2 frames could be a really nice setup for you if you can spare the money now.

That does make sense, Bill. Thanks! I will have to try that. I have been having a hard time with the outside edge b/c of that heel shift.
