I feel obliged to mention mi amigo in Nashville. Steve Larios at Asphalt Beach (www.asphaltbeach.com) does an absolutely awesome job for all his patrons, whether they are in house or online. Not to mention, how many brick and mortar shops still exist that are strictly inline? You should have seen the looks of awe and surprise from the aggressive pros I used to take there while on tour.

Nettracing - I recently put in an order from Nettracing. While Richard is has a good amount of knowledge, hes very pushy for one to follow his beliefs. I called and asked about a Canariam Package skate and he pushed powerslide instead of canariam. When I asked him WHY he suggested one over the other he got kinda angry and short. I caved and purchased the C4 Package. He thought I should have went with the R2 but this time I insisted on the C4. 5 Days later the box is here, what do you know.. R2s. I had to un-mount the boot and send the boots back and I got another boot.

He re-sells his inventory through another company out of tampa (www.powerslideusaracing.com). The people down there have no patience at all. 2 weeks after the boots being exchanged I noticed a hairline crack in one of my frames that was causing my 2nd wheel/axle to rattle loose over time. I called down to talk to them twice. Once to see if my frames made it there. They said theyd call me back, they didnt. I called that night to follow up on it, and they got mad at me. Im not an impatient person, just dont like internet transactions. Im still waiting on the frames to come back after being replaced. I wont be ordering from them again.

Webersports - Awesome experience. Next time I need something this is where I am going. Fast shipping, easy to talk to. They take the time to answer my noobish questions. All around great experience.

Npawn- who is the company in Tampa that's reselling the old inventory? I just purchased some R4 about a month ago in Tampa and I think I may be working on a crack also.

While Richard is nice, and knows a lot about boots and lasts, since he makes his own custom boots, he's still in the dark ages about big wheel skating.

When I first wanted to purchase a 100mm setup, he spent close to an hour trying to convince me that big wheels are not the way to go for long distance marathon type skating. Well guess what, 2 years later and most of the pros and semi-pros are on 100mm or larger setups.

A good deal of the online distributors don't keep inventory, but drop-ship their virtual inventory. This saves them a lot of money and that's how they sell so cheaply. No overhead.

Yeah, I just dont like talking to the guy. I get this feeling like Im back in school and getting sent to the principals office for doing something wrong. I felt like I was getting slapped on the wrist for asking questions. I mean he wasnt rude, just seems to get pushy when you ask questions. Honestly, I just want my frame back and Ill go elsewhere from now on. Ill wait a few more days to receive a package to have an approachable sales person on the other end of the phone.

I ordered my Luigino's from Weber Sports about 3 weeks ago, and received them about a week later, drop shipped from across the country. I ordered 2 sizes, as I was between, and Tim said it would be no problem at all, just wanted me to be happy and comfortable. Great experience, and I will definitely order from them again.

aggressivemall.com

Ordered online on Saturday. My skates arrived today. Perfect! Easy to order, easy to skate!

$299 (after $100 discount). They came with a free AM t-shirt, 3,000,000 AM stickers, and a chunk of wax. I would have hoped for a free video...anyone from aggressivemall listening out there?

Good experience - I'd order from them again.

My lone bad online skate-shopping experience happened about 6-7 years ago. I ordered a pair of K2 fitness skates from a shop in San Francisco (I forget the name), and they were out of stock. So, they substituted the ill-fated "klop" skates. "Flop" skates is more like it! They also billed me for both the substitute skates and the ones I'd originally ordered, and they never corrected it despite multiple requests. I think the shop may be out of business now, and I'd say that they deserve it!

My experience was with "skatebuys". After corresponding with them a few times and telling them that my husband and I were interested in buying rollerblades and that we really wanted to try skates on and not buy online they advised me they had a showroom and skates in stock to try on. After driving over an hour to get there we find out they had 2 skates in stock in 1 size (neither of ours) and pretty much the one guy was clueless and the other guy couldn't give us the time of day. It was a very irritating situation and a wasted trip except for the part where we stopped at the casino on the ride home and I won $1,200.00. THANKS SKATEBUYS.

Connie's sucks at returns & their customer service is horrible. I ordered a set of probes to get me by for a few months and I ordered 7mm axles. They came with 8mm axles and the wrong size. NO biggie. I got the exchange bare plates (no hardware, just 2 pieces of plastic) 2 days later and no 7mm trucks. Connie's told me to keep the 8mm and use them and the 7mm were on their way. I returned the small plates and I got charged for not returning a hardware set (kingpins, cushions, retainers, & nuts) that was never shipped to me. They basically told me that I had to pay for the hardware because they should have been in there even though they weren't. Needless to say I will NEVER buy from them again.

I have to say that Mark at Justskates.com has been the greatest. And Rebecca at getskates.com is awesome and has tons of knowledge.

The Cado Motus Pros are finally in stock in the US and I gave Rich a call today. Talk about not making someone feel good about a purchase. I like the guy because his website is where I first learned about the DP. But he really needs to give his customers more latitude when it comes to their purchases. In a previous experience, he talked me out of a Canariam and into a Powerslide C4. This time he made me feel like poop for wanting to go with 4x100. He was even telling me that people are quitting skating because "they just aren't having fun" on 4x100. I stuck to my guns, though, and told him that the market will adjust in the future if he's right.

The thing is, he's religious about his own experiences being universal truths as opposed to just his own subjective experience. Anyways, I'm excited to be moving to 4x100 and I told him I would update him this Summer (FYI: He plans on publishing some articles about why big wheels are bad). For someone making money, he sure could learn more about making the customer feel like they're in control.

Netskate.com

I recently placed an order with Netskate.com and have nothing but positive things to say about the whole
experience. I ordered some not so common snyder parts and a few other items that were not listed on the website.

Karen was more than helpful with the pre-sales email, answered all my questions and even took the time to review
a few pictures to help me find what I was looking for.

The order came directly from Southeastern Skate Supply in Roanoke, Va and even though I'm located in North Carolina,
I placed the order around noon and the parts were here before 3pm the next day... Excellent!

Jam'n'Speed

I also ordered my skates, wheels and bearings from Fred "Doc sk8" over at Jam'n'Speed. I can't speak highly enough about
my experience there. Fred was always more than helpful and IMO went out of his way to make sure I was a happy customer.
If I'm not mistaken Jam'n'Speed specializes more in custom built skates, but I had to throw em' in the reviews here.

Default Connie's Skate Place

Connie's Skate Place. Mighty Christian shipping charge, isn't this? Is Bones Speed Cream a HAZMAT? I'd like to send them a little nearer to God right about now. This whole box couldn't weigh more than a pair of quad art skates. It's just a bunch of parts.
Subtotal 228.00
Shipping 76.14
Tax 0.00
Total 304.14

Connies, Up yours, sincerely, sideways, with the wheels on, etc., etc.. Signed: Mad Cow333
You just lost a customer. I'll only buy skate parts from heathens from this day forward.

On the other hand, I bought wheels & bearings from planetonwheels.com and they (the Planet) were lightning fast and cheap shipping, too. I did not inquire, nor did they volunteer any information regarding their religion.

Default Ditto on Connie's

MC,

I totally agree. I bought what ends up a really flimsy skate backpack from Connie's (Transpack). The shipping was exorbitant.

Just curious, why didn't you know about how much shipping was, before you made the order?

But I agree, you were pick pocketed. Reading your post here, I would never think of buying from them.
So in the end who do you think lost. Good thing you posted this bad experience here.Today I placed a small order with Weber Sports.

Speed Cream should NOT be considered HAZMAT, expecially in the small quantity that is in the bottles. That makes me want to take a bottle of speed cream to the nearest UPS store and ask them.

Laurie, What's your critique of the Transpack? I've bought two for myself and one each for two grand-daughters without any complaints. I did manage to pull one of my shoulder straps out of the seam but feel it was my own abuse... routinely packed a pair of quads and a pair of inlines and just slipped the one strap over my shoulder to get from the parking lot into the rink. If/when I get another I plan on getting one of the ones aimed at the ski crowd just for the extra room; should be able to pack all my gear plus a few changes of clothes too.

MadCow333:
Sorry to hear about your getting ripped...most places for an order that costly would offer free shipping. Thanks for the "Heads up!"

Inline Warehouse takes my business. I ordered once from them for my girl's birthday and I had a pretty big order of about 8 different items, ranging from Bones Red Bearings too a helmet. Everything arrived pretty quickly. The person I spoke to over the phone was very helpful also. I had a few questions about a few different products and he answered all of them skillfully.

My ONLY problem was that the wheels I ordered smelled like mold! They continue to do so. Hopefully it will go away as she skates with them. I even hosed them down with Lysol Disinfectant. Other than that, good times.

Default Transpack

I just found it really flimsey. The mesh, the zippers, the straps for the backpack. There is no way they will hold up with quads and gear. I wanted something that would carry the gear and keep it ventilated, but I would have gotten a stronger bag if I just would have gone to a regular sporting goods store and bought a gym bag - possibly cheaper too! They do have at least two different models, so we may not even be referring to the same bag.

BTW...

Just received an order from Planets on Wheels for two skate tools - quick ship, everything was in order - and I have corresponded with them in the past about a product I didn't even order from them and they e-mailed me back promptly with helpful information. I'll use them again.
