Default How Do You Change Ice Skates Into Roller Skates?

Can anyone give me step by step instructions to taking blades off of ice skates to fitting quads to the boots to turn them into roller skates?

You might get more answers if you post this in the quad section.
A few people have done it and it looks good, I think the answers will depend on the boot though.

As Nick said, it depends on the boot...

But, if you look at my avatar pic, it's doable

Hardest part is removing the blade (depending on the mounting method this will require cutting off with a dremel type tool or drilling out the rivets - some can be driven out from behind with a pin punch though).

Once the blade is off the mounting is exactly the same as for any quad with the exception that you will have to make or buy a heel block for the rear - skateboard "cheese blocks" (the flat rectangular 1/2" thick type) work for this.

Plenty of mounting guides on these forums though opinion differs as to the exact location (standard vs short/forward for example).

EDIT: I notice from your other posts that you're an art skater? - art boots aren't my field really and the above is from my experience with hockey boots.

I was wondering what kind of boots they are? my dance partner just took his blades off one set of Harlicks, mounted them on a different set of Harlicks and put his new energy (roll line) plates on the other set of Harlicks.

I did not really understand the need to have the skates go on a merry go round, but he's happy now.

Also Harlick recommended he have the holes plugged from the ice blades.

Katy.
