Ask DocSk8 (Expert Indoor Skate Building Advice) This forum is different then the other SkateLog forums in that it is not a discussion forum, but rather a place you can ask skate building expert Fred "DocSk8" Benjamin about building and repairing indoor speed, derby, and jamskate quad roller skates. Default XK-4 S/A cushions

Hello Doc.
Skating S/A XK-4's because that's what I rolled on years ago and I love the S/A.
My new plates have stock cushions that are just slightly softer than a Mack truck leaf spring.
I am going to guess they are polyurethane of a fairly high durometer.
My old skates had rubber cushions that were substantially softer.

Are their any options for softer cushions out there?

Thank you in advance.

Default There are.

However, the best option is converting the XK-4 to a DA45. Then you have access to the full range of SG Super urethane cushions and can easily mix and match them to get the perfect tune.

The cushions on your sk8s now are rubber if they are black, just like the ones that came on them back in the day. They are supposed to be 85A or there about. SG used to make SA urethane cushions but do not any more.

There are some urethane SA cushions floating around, Lasers are the proper size. Just a matter of finding them.

Well I was able to source some medium cushions and a reverse king pin set up, eagerly awaiting their arrival.
I may go the D/A route down the road a spell, need to get my legs back under me first.
