*** The SkateLog Forum Has Been Replaced by SkateDebate Dot Com ***

This announcement is to let everyone know that after hosting the SkateLog Forum and its predecessors for nearly 20 years, I have decided it is time to permanently turn the forum over to a new owner and administrator. I cannot think of anyone more suitable to take on that role than my SkateLog forum co-host, Florida skater Jessica Wright. I am pleased to announce that Jessica has agreed to establish and host a brand new skating forum, configured like the SkateLog Forum, but with a new name and a new Web Site. This new forum is 100% owned and operated by Jessica.

Default NOS Chicago skates - need parts info

I acquired some New Old Stock Chicago skates for my wife, but without wheels, bearings, or axle nuts. Also, the pivot cups are crumbling. The boots are Riedell 120. The metal plates say "Chicago" and Pat. No. 3.180.651. I need to know the axle size, I'm guessing it is 9/32 inch x 32 tpi. Is this correct? If so, do I use 7mm bearings? And what can I use for replacement pivot cups?ĺ

I'm almost sure you will have to use 7mm bearings on those axles. They still make 7mm (9/32) axle nuts also. And you might try sure-grip pivot cups and see if they fit. Otherwise you might try some of the skateboard/longboard distributors and see if any of their pivot cups would fit.

How is the condition of the cushions? You might need to replace those as well.

Default Parts

These skates are not that old. So parts are somewhat easy to find. What is best is just take them down to the local rink and see if they have parts that will fit these. That way you can test fit the pivot cups they have, and test fit a 7mm bearing. if not try a 8mm one. Rinks carry all kinds of parts.
