Default Unwritten rules

So one of the unwrittens rules seems to be, that if your new and not part of the "group" then you get lectured about going off thread topic. But if you are part of the "group" then you can go off thread topic.

I know this is off topic. Yet are you saying with your Avatar that you are the golum from the Lord of the Rings. I mean that is creative.

How about a morph Avatar like Doc so we can have you both ways.

Default Come On You too can morph

Hi Skateguy,

It would be fun to go between your old Avatar and your new kind of like Doc and a few others.

I know, I know, I don't even have an Avatar and here I am at your age encouraging you. One of these days I will do mine yet you are ahead of me and I want to encourage you to Greatness of Presence.

Yours in Skating, MA/NY Skating Dave

The dialogs involving you in the training log sure have been entertaining. I expect many would agree. I've seen a couple of posts from speedysktr now where he blasted people. He does seem to be somewhat of an authority around here. Sure makes for an entertaining forum.

IMHO: The unwritten rules advice you got translates to, as a newer member you shouldn't chastise entrenched members so brashly, especially after peaking everyone's curiousity by logging entries such as "Sunday May 11 Manage to cover 118 miles in just over 13 hours and 8 minutes", and not telling anything about yourself.

Everyone is dying to know:
We can make this thread a real hit if you answer these questions:
  • Are you for real? Did you really skate 118 miles in one day? Tell more about the 118 mile day! (I'm not at all thinking that you're not for real.)
  • What city do you live in?
  • Do you skate these extraordinary distances on roads?, bike paths?
  • What kind of skates to you skate on?
  • Can you give a little information about this Cueball person? Like, you're a gal right?
Bruce

I'm thinking he was on his bike for part of the 118 miles.

Bleeker, 118 miles been done on skates before for sure. More Cowbell & a host of others did more than that at 24hour inline. I would like to hear more from "Cueball" about the 118 mile day as well.

I really haven't seen any dialogues per se. I've seen a few lines tossed with no bites, but nothing I would call a dialogue. Just like this thread, a comment is made with no follow up or actual participation by the original poster. There has been an overwhelming call for participation by cueball, yet no answers, no replies, nothing. Regarding "blasts", I stand by an earlier post: "Don't start nuthin', won't be nuthin'"

Well speedysktr you have brought out a deeper side of Drella. Drella you have shown heart. Forgive me for being so forward as a newbie. I was outspoken because I thought it might bring Cueball out of his/her shell; trying to be a hero I guess....

Nothing to forgive Bruce, I thought it was a good post! I didn't take it personally and apologize if I sounded defensive. It's all good.

Man am i naive. SLF is my first forum. But i can skate!!! Here is an interesting blurb I found on trolling:
The content of a troll posting generally falls into several areas. It may consist of an apparently foolish contradiction of common knowledge, a deliberately offensive insult to the readers of a newsgroup, or a broad request for trivial follow-up postings.
Prove us wrong Cueball...

Not all for naught in any case, because speedysktr and drella now know me....

Don't hold your breath. You may think he was trolling, but notice how there has been no concern with the incessant bantering. Not the work of a troll in the true sense of the word.
Actually, anyone still smashing his original "and only," comment -is in fact trolling. So we can all just give it a rest, it's not that big of deal...
