is the only way to do this is with a bearing press? or will a hammer and a screwdriver work.

LOL yea all them methods will work, however Ü will destroy the bearings. They do make many simple bearing removal and press tools or Ü can use a homemade tools as long as Ü use common sense.

Sorta depends what kind of wheels. For inlines, a 5/16 bolt will fit nicely into the 8mm hole, and then you kind of stir it around and pull outward. To install, you just push them in, and then give them a final tap once the wheels are in the frame. For quad wheels, no idea.

I'm really glad i got salomon alan key, it has a bearing removal thing on the handle. and since salomon stopped making skates you cant buy them anymore.

Alos, you should gently, gradually work the bearing out. Don't just put the tool in and pry 'til it flies out...

funny cause its true... once had to change my bearings on the bus, with the help of everyone else on the top deck as it worked out.
