Post skate event and trail report:

A nice 3 days, sunny, temps were into high 80's, overall beautiful scenic skating. Michigan trails were picturesque, flat, and smooth. Some of the distances posted on the Western Mich web links page we found to be off, so if you go just take note: Evart to Care is actually 24.5 miles(not the 28 noted on the web page), and Leroy to Cadillac is 37.5 miles(not the 30 miles as noted on the web page. There is a 2.5 mile gap between where the Evart-Clare trail section stops just 2.5 miles west of town then resumes again in downtown Clare. One is forced to go a busy hwy(with nice smooth shoulder) or scamper thru quieter back roads to make the link thru Clare. the Evart to Clare trail is one of the smoothest trails we've skated to date!! The Clare-midland section also smooth, but Evart-Clare is over the top!

Leroy to Cadillac is nice, very smooth for the most part, but not sure the trail will make it another yr. It's pavement is new but they allow snowmobiles to ride it, which is starting to deteriorate the middle section of the trail.

Links to Western Mich web page trails & maps are in the initial posting above.

Skaters racked up anywhere from 60-130 miles over the weekend. Put this on your list of places to go explore and skate. We will definitely return next summer.

Skate tour pics can be found here: Mich Skate Tour

Til next time!

Default 2013 MICH Skate tour plans...

Hi all!
Last Summer Aug 2012, SkateNow held a 3 day weekend skate trip on Michigan's Pere-Marquette trail. A number of skaters are looking forward to skating this event again this summer, and we're still in planning stages. After recent heavy flooding/rains we've gotten a thumbs up for the Midland to Clare section being in good condition, but still unknown re: the Clare to Evart section. If anyone has skated this section recently, please drop a note back so we can finalize plans for this Aug trip. We skated a section of the FM White Pine Trail last yr as well - 38 miles r/t from Leroy into Cadillac. Also, open to input re: other nice trails in Mich, with distances of 20-30 miles in length.

If you'd like to be on the list for this event, please PM me or drop me a note a facebook.

Thanks, and looking forward to rolling thru Mich this summer!!
