Default The things you skaters do for a living

Hi Skaters,

One of the great things I have found in skating is the diversity that exisits on so many levels. The people I skate with are involved in some exciting things. Two of the C.O.R.A. board members are lawyers, One of my skaters is a gourmet chef that does elaborate parties for Senator Dianne Feinstein and other celebs and politicians.

Warren Fooke is a long time skater that is a regular Friday Night Skate participant. He does most all the races we have here in the Bay Ares and is part of the Black Rock Roller Disco at Burning Man every year. He spent time in intensive care a few years back after a head on crash between himself and a minivan full of chuch women. That was a very bad scene.

Warren is an astro physicist. If you check out the video of the San Francisco Gravity Festival, you will see him explaining the physical dynamics of his skate design to the reporter. ( http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=cmHX-J8lfbw )

On June 11, NASA will launch a new gamma telescope. I don't know what that is, but I want one. This is a project Warren has been working on for a long time. It could be key to unlocking some of the deep secrets of space. This will be a world wide news story. Check out the article from MSNBC on the project at http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24950124/

Wow! And wow! That gamma telescope sure sounds fascinating!

I'm nowhere near as prominent as your colleagues, I'm the V.P. for a medium sized construction firm here in OKC. Marketing manager is my function.

Skating IS my day job!!! Right now I'm working on the Napa Inline Marathon. I have 2 parades on the horizon, a roller derby game, teaching the PE teachers of Oakland Unified to skate and Burning Man. That and about 14 skate parties and other promotions will take me through October.

I skated the streets in OKC when I attended a USARS event there. I got stopped by the police at 11:30 P.M. They just wanted to know about my skates. That's not what I thought when the lights came on!!!

I'm a Systems Engineer working mainly (though not exclusively) in the not-for-profit (npo) world at this point, after many years in corporate environs.
I joined two friends in their consulting firm about a month ago, and it's a good feeling having my work contribute to more than just the bottom line.

Do you have any openings for a 9 year old gaming prodigy? After finding out his dream job of 'alchemist' doesn't actually exist, he's set on being a creator of other sorts. With as much time as he spends gaming we could be rich by now

Lol, they do hire young, but I don't know about that young!

At least he wants to be a designer and not a game tester. Seems like all the kids always want to be video game testers. I've been around those guys a bunch, and most of the time, it is NOT a fun job. Imagine being a 19 year old guy and having to play something like a Hello Kitty game for 14 hours a day for weeks at a time. Ugh!

Broken Joe, not a good idea to say that on a public forum. Goes against a lot of what is taught on personal security. Suggest you revise it or delete it.

Guess I should say what I do huh?

I lead a team in an office. It's mostly sedentary work, but very stressful at times. Fortunately, I don't get the visibility others in my office get. They have more stress. Sometimes I feel I'm wrapped up in tons of red tape and called on the carpet for stupid stuff though. But at the end of the day, we perform a good service (though some would not agree it's necessary) and make a living at the same time.

I have a couple of volunteer positions, but that's what I do for a living.
