Default Thanks Again All, Keep them coming

Hi jbgerman, many others,

Well jb I think that too will work well. Probably works better with Quads than on High/Long Inlines since I can "feel the pace" i.e. place and push fast on quads keeping tempo with certain beats within that song.

Nice

Yours in Skating, MA/NY Skating Dave

P.S. With so so many good speed songs I am going to have to take this slow introducing a few songs at a time. I will probably start with the young DJ giving him some things to try out, the InLine speed guy Derby trainer, and then some other adult guys who like the speed skate.

Ok, you guys all missed the boat on this one: Hands down (as it was the song used each night for the fast/speed skate at our session when we were kids)

Black Betty (if you donít know it is by Ram Jam)

Yep, just showed some age there but trust me itís a good one. Great for a solid 4 minutes of speed skate chasiní the pack around the cones.

I have liked Fast Rythmn Skating, and fast Organ Skating, yet this is a bit faster in speed and it does have a pushing/pulling you tempo. Take a look at what Nick from Australia posted and you might see the difference. That Aussie Angel guy seems a little on Speed (the drug). Yet Like other ones posted including gotsk8s from the top it does have a tempo. In Rythmn you might go inbetween beats to get a skating pattern since the drive is a bit too fast.

BTW, I am guessing that my Wednesday Owner Rink Crew is watching this tread. They had a pretty good song on last night and I guessed due to Mass Vacation Week they were not going to have a Speed Skate late in the Session.

Ah Marc-tin (Sorry don't know how to spell it) and K You are watching the Old Guy

Howabout another Aussie classic:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1-mLIdLZZeI

TISM - He'll never be an old man river.

Still not quite sure what tempo you're after, different ages, skills, and skate(r) types change the cadance rate quite alot. Could you post a Youtube clip of something like it?

Default Speed Skating time

Hi BlackLace,
from the Country of Hercules (Kevin) from the TV Show

The only problem I have with this link is that it is NOT long enough. You need at least 3:30 to 4:00 for a good speed skating song that whips skaters.

Default Thanks GotSk8s for Maroon

That first one looks really good for Speed,

The 2nd one might also be good for speed TOO, Yet I am going to recommend it for general session for Fast Rythmn since I can "Feel" Skating that one with lots of foot moves added into the mix. Others guys that skate with me can skate it to speed, if they wish during general session. It is a Fun Song and you can mouth the lyrics which is great.

Too bad you can't see me dancing like on skates in front of my PC as I played each song. Thanks again.

Yours in Skating, MA/NY Skating Dave

Edit-01: I can see when during this 2nd song I can Side Surf for a bit and also Go Up on my Heels, all to the beat. If I can get it played it will be interesting to watch the one older guy (I guess my age) that currently skates with us, that does great 3 turns on art skates and has piles of energy.

Thanks, glad you like those. My girlfriend pretty much sums these 2 tunes up the same way you just did lol

A few years ago I was asked to DJ for a Memphis Roller Derby after party with Bloody Elle and got the thumbs up from Suzy Hotrod on several tracks.
P.S. Suzi likes Iggy and the Stooges and The Damned. Don't know if that necessarily qualifies me but it sure felt amazing.

I can appreciate something from all genres of music. For session speed skating I love electronic, punk/funk/rock, and some hip hop. Tracks that provide that "chasing the music" feel you're looking for. Edited my set slightly from the original.

Daft Punk- Around the World
Most Daft Punk is utterly listenable and completely acceptable for all ages at the rink.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9MszVE7aR4

Adam Freeland- Under Control
Saw Freeland at the Gibson Guitar Lounge in '07. Very underrated DJ,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZkT2Rn9zCg

Adam Freeland vs. Nirvana- Smells Like Freeland
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T78cRndizCE

Goldfrapp vs Garry Glitter- Rock & Roll Train
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q0Kk3aFD1N8

Tin Knocker- Power Me Up
Bonus feature: Dirty South Derby Girls vs. Mad Rollin Dolls
"Parachutes are open now, baby. Their Tryin to slow me down. You can't catch me..you can't slow me down". Perfect skate lyrics.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-bL504dDvw

The Glitch Mob- We Can Stop the World
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOLY7bjCTTE

Pendulum- Plasticworld
Uhhhnn get it..c'mon...get it
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQ7qCgCedCs

Dyme Def- Dizzy Izzy
For those who like funky modern trip hop with some soul.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8eKqtxdMSCw

Drive Soundtrack- Kavinski & Lovefoxxx- Nightcall
With the "Hey Girl" Ryan Gosling Derby Meme being a huge thing right now...it might be perfect to play a cool down track from his film "Drive". A few derby peeps might appreciate that.

Default Interesting Beat

Hi maxxi, Violet too,

I have not played all of Violet's stuff, yet most likely it is all good.

As I hear your song, I do believe it is good for fast skating. I think you can even keep up a tempo that can keep you on a fast pace. To me it is the inner beat.
