Default Anyone remember this one at the rink?

I honestly think this would go over great currently. I remember there was a group of kids who'd shuffle to this one. They were the cool skate kids and I so wanted to learn to shuffle.

You Dropped a Bomb On Me by The Gap Band

Smile Yep, I remember that song, a good one, but

Do you remember this song not at the rink.

It's funny when you think of songs that affected you, I remember going to Bakersfield, Ca for a regional skate meet. It must of been 1973 and we were in the giant parking lot for a very low cost motel. There was a Giant Sign that said "Bakersfield Inn".

A competitor for the "Intermediate Singles division" was driving a very hot Road Runner automobile. I remember this song playing. That memory never leaves me.

It was a very single important time in my life.

So true. Even before I got back into skating I'd feel the urge to roll anytime I'd hear The Gap Band. Fun!

Default Yep Love that Song

HI,

Don't here it anymore, yet it is still one of my favorites due to the tempo and changes. I still like the Double Dutch Bus by Frankie, yet don't here it anymore

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fK9hK82r-AM

And then we have Usher https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-dvTjK_07c

Let me list that one again https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-dvTjK_07c

Yours in Skating, MA/NY Skating Dave

Edit-01 Let us not forget Rapper's Delight. Kills most people skating to a song so so Long, and Done so Well

We got them to play You Dropped A Bomb On Me *and* Double Dutch Bus last Friday night. We also had them play Get Down On It. Saturday at the other rink they played Atomic Dog for us - without us having to ask

I can still remember skating to Madleen Kane, Dan Hartman, France Joli, Voyage, Love & Kisses, and Costandinos.

Default Hey Great Photo of an Organ Skate Grinder

Hey

Will play your tunes. If I am correct that is Holiday Skate in New Jersey.

My daughter is moving very close, SO maybe I will get to skate there more with my granddaughter, who has never skated YET

Yours in Skating, MA/NY Skating Dave

Edit-01: OK Great Tunes, I can feel dancing to them already.. Never skated to most of them. I will request them from some of the places I skate. Only problem is they are old and each place might not have them in their library. Thankssss...

The tunes are probably very difficult to come by. They are old school tunes from my early days at Carolier Roller Rink when Scott Cohen was training with Joe Fernando.

Sometimes in the Summer or on some other skate days, some of the rink DJ management will play anything I would like to skate. Usually a quiet rink volume day.

SO, I guess I need to find out how to get them loaded to their computer.

Sunday I was asked for suggestions, yet she plays OK current stuff so I had nothing to add; YET, Tuesday was very weak for good skate music. Even Tragedy by the Bee Gees is hard for some to find, since it sits in older files.

Hmm... I know a few places with collections of old music in FLAC. I managed to digital versions of many old albums I have from the 70s. I could put them on a USB drive and take it to the rink.

Oh, who could forget the Gap Band "You Dropped a Bomb on Me" ! A classic old-school shuffle song of the early 80s..... Along with other greats - Let It Whip, Don't Stop The Rock, Double Dutch Bus, Bounce Rock Skate Roll, tired old Planet Rock, ad infinitum....
