Riedell (model ????), Sure grip classic plates, Team Bones 98A.
New to me but the original owner says he bought them in the 80's. Numbers on the inside are worn except for 1643 and 11 which is the size. Anyone have a clue what they are? Just curious. And my Chaya park skates... Thanks. ![]() ![]() Last edited by SixSkate; December 6th, 2017 at 02:06 PM. Reason: Added another photo |

Depending on if tall enough my guess would be the 172 boot.

Here is my recently rebuilt set of skates. Swift plates on Bont boots with Labeda Stiletto wheels and Bones Red bearings:
![]() ![]() These were rescued from the side of the road. They'd been left out with all the household rubbish for council collection. Unfortunately the suede and leather Altimura Moonraker boots were too far gone to save, but the rest was OK. The original NSK bearings were able to be cleaned and are still in decent condition. I'm only guessing at the wheel brand and model as that's as close as I can estimate, as there were so many wheels like this around at the time. They still roll nicely and have excellent grip on steel float concrete, urethane coated concrete and even plastic tiles, so I'm guessing they're about a 90-92a. I'm planning the have them re-surfaced to reveal a fresh layer, then trimmed a bit to remove some divots on the lips and make them more manoeuvrable for general skating. I found one set of white plastic pivot cups the right size in a local rink's box of parts, but they had become brittle and fell to bits, so I fabricated some pivot cups from reinforced fuel line and silicone sealant. The cups are a weird 14.5 mm diameter, so hard to find otherwise, but I'm still looking around. They're mounted conservatively forward, as they'll be used mostly for rolling around outdoors on some red Kryptos I got on eBay a week or so ago, and indoors on the Stilettos until a nice set of speed only skates are complete. Thanks to the greed of photobucket all the pics that made this thread great are now mostly gone. This was a great thread and I always liked going back through the pages which brought back some good memories. It's crazy that its been 10 years since I started this thread.

How the heck did you end up in Alaska? I thought you were from Florida?
