Cheers Mate. I had me own set of Moonrakers made in about 1990, but like a d1ckh3ad tossed them several years back - they were a bit worn out and had a ton of heel sag, but i always regretted throwing them out.
When i was in Australia last week, a long time friend pulled his old moonrakers out and said i could have em. Was beyond stoked - they are in pretty great condition, just years of grime built up. Brought em home, cleaned em up, and swapped out his worn out Aussat/Fan Jets and Nachis for some Aussie Scotts with ceramics. I also added new cushions as the originals were way too soft for me. Got to say. Since riding in Bonts for the past year+ i got used to the very rigid sole. Was interesting to go back to a less rigid sole on the moonrakers, but the low cut and worn-in-ness made them super comfy, and in ways were better than the Bonts. I'm truly a fan of both for different reasons, so its sweet to have a set of moonrakers again! Cheers Last edited by PortlandAussie; August 31st, 2016 at 11:41 PM. |

Finally got my new skates back from Doc, maybe in a few years I'll build another set. 395's Power Trac's and 95a Wicked Scotts, and the new pair are Custom 395's, Snyder Advantage and 98/97a Wicked Scotts.

I had them all out the other day. All models from long ago. From top left, Riedell 265, 695, Oberhammer 61, and 295 single boot in the center (have both, waiting on a plate).

Considering I rescue old skates from garage sales etc and sell at the local rink a pic of all of my skates is not possible. That and the family has like 5 pairs. So here is a pic of my newest pair I had built. Love these skates.
The final build is as follows: Antik AR-1 Custom Color Lab, Custom 96A 4 Black 4 White Aussie Scott "Wicked Scotts" Wheels, Snyder Advantage Plate, Derby Vixen Custom Designed Toe Guards, Qube Gold Swiss Bearings, DerbyLaces Gold Metallic Laces, Iris Dance Plugs. ![]() |
