Default Cushions: now in different colors without changing hardness

Hey guys Im new here but I got a great idea in customizing cushion colors!

all i basically did was

wrap an Electrical tape of your choice.

*tip on wrapping: wrap a bit tightly so that way the remaining parts of the tape will curve its self on to the both ends of the cushion

now u gotta do 7 more of em :P

n there u have it! awesome colored cushions without changing hardness.

(btw i still havent tested its durability.. so I recomend trying it at your own risk)

That's really cute. One concern I would have with doing that is the tape would mess with the cushions ability to compass, but that might be minimal.

Welcome to the forum!
thanks

well the tape its self is pretty soft so shouldnt be a problem. but what Im worried about is the tape peeling apart n ending up with a mess. still havent happened but Ill test em today n see if there is any problem.

very cool idea! I would think the tape would flex pretty good with the cushion because it's made to be stretchy in the first place, but probably a better idea for 'fun' skates and not skates you need for speed skating/performance, ya know? Still an AWESOME idea. love it!

Hey - where's 7skaters? I figured she'd be ALL over this and make each cushion a different color of the rainbow?

Talking Do not try this way...

Alright, so ive tried this way but was a disaster. but found a new way!

so what i did this time was using different colored baloons.
first, you cut off the top and the very bottom, leaveing only the long middle section
then you just stretch it and fit it on cushion!

this way, it lasts longer, less effect on performance and None of the Sticky mess the tape creates! (Its been 3+ month and is still fine with the baloon way)

happy custom!

I think they're getting at is that it has a performance effect. I could see this more a problem the thicker the tape was. IE Duct tape

Also with the flexing cushion the tape will eventually move and depending on the stickiness will leave behind a residue.

I think colored heat-shrink tubing would probably work as well.
